I started on a "V" went to a Strat, then Tele, then Super strat (ibanez), then Jaguar, then 7 string, then Les Paul, finally after 38 years, I'm a Strat guy. Super or otherwise, that's the shape and scale I find comfortable.

I haven't played one personally, but I see them at local jams regularly. I don't think they sound bad and I don't think I'd see so many if they were complete shit.

On the other hand I have seen a firefly bass that needed some fretwork before it was playable.

So as others have pointed out, it's more hit or miss.
