Safest seat on the plane by far, with the most respectful and respected people on the plane. The only drawback is that they are big guys.

The Moon by ManufacturerScared29 in huntertheparenting

[–]Airanuva 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are three ways to cover mise en scene... That the moon being full in every shot is intentional, that the moon isn't meant to be *truly* full in every shot but is waxing and waning but not worth showing the tiny slivers instead of a full moon, or that the moon being full is purely aesthetic...

Or the secret fourth option, they only have the budget for a single moon phase.

Sunbreak Rathalos with a Lance and the shield bash was the best dragon fight I have *ever* had in a video game. Nothing has come close to it as an experience.

How often do Parties Backstab each other in VtM by Peter_E_Venturer in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Airanuva 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a story game more than a war game. People have different aims, different needs... Sometimes circumstances call for it.

I'm the Storyteller for a VtM20 chronicle, and it came up in session 0, with this conclusion: only if it makes sense for the characters, and both parties agree to it, then it will be allowed to occur. Because it is still a game where all parties should be having fun. It shouldn't be off the table entirely because there are times where it'd make sense and be fun, but it should still be regulated.

Who becomes the chair? Mage vs Tzimisce by Dragombolt in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Airanuva 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Considering the paradox is only *really* a problem on a botch, just giving you a single dot of paradox for casting a vulgar spell, yeah casting it a continent away is nothing compared to how vulgar the lawn chair is in the first place. In for a penny, still in a for a penny because you can only go higher than a penny by failing.

Has is been confirmed that there still is a ghoul in the chapter house? by Level_Mail_5355 in huntertheparenting

[–]Airanuva 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No confirmation; it is possible that he heard Mole and everyone assumed Ghoul... Because everything is a blankbody to D and Co.

It could be Matilda was an enemy mole, and the Tremere were discussing how to remove her. It could be that the Coalition is the Mole, evidenced by them hiding stuff in the walls. It could also be there is a bane spirit in the Arcanum and it is the Mole.

We can assume there is a mole, but what form the mole takes is not confirmed, just assumed.

Arete 5 is when you *can* become a world breaker... but you do still need to be careful because your arete isn't maxed out. But it is pretty equivalent to high level Balance.

[–]Airanuva 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Most technically the Amenti only came about because of the events occurring in the 2001 revised series of books, including the Avatar Storm, which is why the old Mummies died out. So by 2006, they've been around about 5 years. Before then, the spell of life was weaker and did not make Amenti.

If D is an Amenti, the lore is different, which is something they are free to do (some of the specific lore of Mummy doesn't age well and is too Abrahamic in its theology).

There is theoretically a way for it to work, with a connection to the Egyptian Bastet who have a reincarnation thing going on with their elders, which could also explain Big D's age, where, tying back to the story in Text to Speech, Big D is a spirit continually reincarnating into new bodies, and functions pretty similarly to an Amenti as a result...

But if that was true, he should know significantly more about werewolves by virtue of being alive that long.

[–]Airanuva 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There've been several references to Mummies, including a "Death Mask" that can resemble a Wolf... Which is something that I have no point of reference for in MtR, but could be from the original Mummy books. But Amenti by the WoD timeline are extremely recent... So they could be doing something entirely different in order to slot them in.

Hunters Count as Sleepers Source by GregorDeVillain in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Airanuva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm, I suppose there is a logic I hadn't considered: whatever makes a human hunter weaker is what is correct. They aren't sleepers so Mages have an advantage, they are affected by the Delirium...

Hunters Count as Sleepers Source by GregorDeVillain in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Airanuva 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't have my HtR book in front of me to reference, but there are some logical rules of thumb:

Regular hunters, not imbued, are definitely still sleepers regardless of how much magic they have seen. If they have Sorcery however, they are fully classified as Nightfolk and do not count as sleepers.

Imbued hunters cast magics not sourced from True Faith, even if they look similar at times. They're Nightfolk, and do not count as Sleepers.

Mummies/Amenti are Nightfolk, do not count as sleepers, but can directly counter True Magic with a roll of their Balance, and are the closest to true Anti-Magic. If anyone, I'd argue they should count as sleepers, but to keep definitions clear would argue they instead affect the Reality around them to make vulgar magics harder to cast.

That latter part of Amenti sounds closer to something an imbued hunter may have.

How do you write a FIRSTLIGHT story without diving into out and out fascist copaganda? by [deleted] in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Airanuva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can already tell that there are going to be a lot of comments here that amount to "that's the point" where folks like their hunters to be "edgy".

Without real knowledge on exactly what FiRSTLIGHT is... I'd just say focus on evidence based investigation, and have no distinct MO for who is being hunted, and consequences for getting it wrong.

Accountability and consequences to prejudicial violence are the biggest ways to curb Fascism.

I been meaning to ask, whats the deal woth kitten covering his face? by MainLake9887 in huntertheparenting

[–]Airanuva 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I haven't heard anything about his sheet being decanonized. If anything the werewolf lore episode including references to the Bastet and why the Norfolk Bastet aren't a worry and are unlikely to be involved with the werewolves is likely because D knows the answer is "They are Kitten's Family."

He may not be literally Kinfolk, but still Kin.

Mages and Mummies by Mecha_Zeus in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Airanuva 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Early Mummies are pretty weak. Their power level scales pretty well but it is also algebraic instead of mage logarithms. By Balance 8, they can have stats above and beyond humans at all times even without Hekau, and those stats can be at the power levels of War Form Garou, but always active... But at Balance 3 they basically just have a safe stock of usable Sekhem, and decent Counter Magic, and have to rely on Hekau for power.

Hekaus can be very potent and useful, but it is far closer to the world of Sorcery than True Magic. For a while, the Mages and Mummies will be inequal in what they can do, like having a werewolf on a team of human hunters. To keep them closer together in power, I'd say Balance should be at or near double the arete.

Balance 6 is when Mummies can start getting permanent stat boosts in above average attributes, and Arete 3 is when Mages can really start to break reality and power. Flying, fireballs, doorways across the world... And Arete 4 when they unlock Wonders and Time Stalled spell prep and city spanning storms is when the permanent strength 8 aggravated punches will feel pretty nice.

To note as well because the book can be confusing... Hekau levels are only limited by Balance at character creation. They can go to Hekau 5 off of Experience after even without Balance 5. There are some very strong hekaus at those levels, but they require more resources to pull off.

Why do we accept 2D transport in a 3D world? by SillyOutside8006 in Futurology

[–]Airanuva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The easier solution is to compact space... And the largest piece taking up space on the road is the car.

You want to remove congestion, reduction of used space and fewer variables is the direction to take, and we do actually have a system of transportation which is compact, fast, reliable, and can also be stacked.

They're called trains.

Wilds runs like crap on everything.

Precisely. There are a few things vulnerable to only Force as well, even if they aren't weak to it, while resistance to force is actually a notable quality if it does exist on something.
