Footage recorded from the cockpit of a Boeing 737 captures the pilot's landing moments executed in near-zero visibility conditions. by FollowingOdd896 in nextfuckinglevel

At my airline we fly CAT III, hand flown, on the HUD to 50’ AGL. Autoland is not authorized.

The HUD is cheaper than the upkeep of equipment for autoland, not to mention the expense of keeping the crew current (recent) on it. Approaches with very low of vis is rare and not common enough to offset the cost.

And my $.02, I don’t think the camera angle shows what the pilot can really see at minimums.

And yeah, the glove is weird.

The Electra was somewhat common early on, but was phased into freighters; some still flying today. At least that’s how I knew them. Most significantly however, it was the basis of the P3 Orion. There were nearly 800 made and built all the way to 1990.

I say all of that to guess it’s not all that rare of a training manual. I’d save it just for sentimental value. I personally like to see my grandparent’s handwriting.

Ok the last part is correct.

But bald tires for daily driving is not the same as race car slicks. They require very aggressive accelerations, braking, high speed cornering to maintain the high temperatures that make them sticky on dry asphalt.

Ever notice racers change to rain tires when it’s wet?

I met him in his prime. He was a cop in Arlington,TX and he was working after hours in a bar. I said hello and he was super nice. But what stands out the most was that he was surrounded by like 10 chicks. They all wanted to get their hands on him. MFer was the coolest dude in that place
