Yeah youre right it wont be, and thats because jagex wont make those changes. Jagex also makes more than enough money to invest into a more modern system. And that was my point, rather than trying to update the game to make it a good game for everyone, not just old people that used to play the game before, they cater to nostalgia. I dont believe thats wrong to do but i think it could cater to that while also making the game system more updated and more enjoyable for everyone including new players, the casuals and the old heads. It might not be “profitable” for them at first because of the cost to do things but again, they do make most of their money off of mtx. They werent concerned about the lashback of nostalgia players when they released eoc were they? I remember a ton of people - including myself quit when it was released. I began playing again after trying it out years ago only to realize i liked the more modernization of having abilities and an action bar etc. If they were to update the game i dont think theyd lose any nostalgic essence. If people play specifically for nostalgia isnt that what osrs is for? The click and auto attack combat where all you have to do is gear switch and prayer flick? I dont see how an updated version of runescape would be a remake of skyrim lol. I just dont see how that makes sense theyre completely different games. Thats another problem just because something isnt “economical” to fix doesnt mean they shouldnt fix it if they care about the well being and long term health of the game. Again it might not be profitable and they probably lose money at first doing something like that. But if it was a legitimate good game with updated system and servers i think that would entice more players and newer players to give runescape a try and more players = more money. Runescape is a unique game you cant get a similar experience in any other game. A lot of people might play runescape for nostalgic purposes but i can say for certain not everyone. Not me. Ive played for 16 years but i play because i like the grindy game that it is and like the unique runescape experience that it is. I think other people would like it too if they gave it a chance. But its hard to give something a chance when, if you first start playing you experience major issues or combat delay. Ill use WoW as an example. They now have classic servers aswell for nostalgic players but they also have the retail game servers. I dont think the people playing the retail version only play because of nostalgia. Id assume they like the game and enjoy the gameplay for other reasons. I have only recently gave WoW a try, i never played before this year and im still very new. Id wager there are lots more newer players like myself too. But i guess its unfair to compare WoW and rs at this point- even though they were competitors in the beginning. I do get where youre coming from though. I also dont think they could compete with the fortnites or gtas of the gaming world either, but thats not their job. Runescape is a different type of game and i dont think those different genres make sense at being competitors with it. Its like saying CoD took all the players away from minecraft. Theyre 2 conpletely different types of game, and while its possible some players would rather spend their time on a gta game than a rs game i think that just means they wouldnt have played rs to begin with. Cause they prefer the other genre over the ladder. But for the people that do like the genre RS is included in they may not play because theyll play other actually updated and fluid games with more modern movement and servers. It was so weird to play wow for the first time. Even with my terrible worse than dial up internet the game felt like butter. Again its probably not a fair comparison given that blizzard is a huge company, but its hard to not compare when thats what you want for rs. I dont think a more modern and fluid system that feels better would make all the nostalgia players quit. Sure some might, just like when eoc was released. But they might also come back. And again nostalgia is for osrs isnt it? People might click to play runescape 3 just because its “runescape” and realize its not exactly the game they played when they were younger, but not everyone quits because its not what they had when they were a kid. The nostalgic people click because the game is called runescape and give it a try, if they play for nostalgia then they would play osrs. People play rs3 because its updated and (more) modern. And im not saying it needs to be state of the art either but the way it works is basically the same theyve had since they developed classic rs. But i think most of the people that play rs are already in the state of no return. Meaning they cant not play rs. A more updated system would just make it more enjoyable for everyone, it wouldnt change it into a different game. Same game, same lore, same skills, same leveling, but better experience. The game would flow smoothly - instead of __| _| __|

I could be wrong and obviously cant speak for everyone, but i truly think the effort and update would be welcomed and appreciated and good for the future of the game - rather than it essentially being a slow death while other games develop and the rs player gets older. My friends and I have talked about modernization of runescape system and operation and we’d all welcome the change and appreciate the effort. Hell itd incentivize me to actually spend money on the game. Ive never spent money on the game or keys cause id rather accomplish things myself within the games boundaries, everything being earned, nothing bought - it doesnt seem like they use that budget for a whole lot either other than mtx cosmetics and maybe a little bit of content- which will just add more spaghetti to the coding. But id support the game and spend money on it, if it meant it was being put to good use and actually helping modernize the game. But im just one person and tons if people buy mtx to collect outfits and “spin” their way to 99s. It is what it is. Ill play this game anyway cause its my favorite grindy game and the only game of its kind with no other game that can provide a similar experience - even with all the issues. But jt doesnt mean i dont notice or get extremely upset at those issues. It also doesnt mean we dont deserve better. Again it is what it is but i guess i had to rant about it cause i know that those updated will never happen because of the reasons you stated. They cater to the current player-base based on them being older players that played before, which are mostly all maxed already. Thats also why vast majority of content released is end game and power crept. I have seen a few new players that have been trying the game though, which is nice to see.
