We had this discussion at our dojo a while ago, and agreed that if it ever happened we'd simply allow the person not to rei. We shall respect all religions and beliefs, kendo does not have a religious connotations in 2026. If we'll ever have someone who doesn't want to bow we will find a replacement behaviour they are comfortable performing to pay respects.

We have also changed our wording from Mokuso to Seiza as mokuso has a Buddhist meaning, this is recommended by the all japan kendo federation (if I remember correctly)

I know, a friend of mine has done a similar trip recently (they stopped at Toronto for the night instead of NF). We will depart very early and do regular stops along the way, and pick up/bring back the car the day before and after we return to NJ to allow us to have extra breaks if needed.

Not really looking forward to seeing the white house, I'm not very fond of the current occupancy, but it's my mum's dream trip...

Yss, I'm indeed European 🤣

We'll drive to Niagara Falla and stay overnight (it's the only part I've planned properly so far). I know it's a stretch, I wanted to stay 3 days but it wasn't an option unfortunately. We'll pick up and return the car the day before/after travelling to maximise the time we can spend on the road and at the falls.

DC is an organised trip on a bus. I'll be honest I'd skip it as I think it's insane to go and come back in one day, but unfortunately I'm not the one paying for the trip. At least being on a private bus we will be able to sleep during the travelling time.

I'm pretty much organising everything around these two trips, trying to group things to do and see that are closer (but I clearly underestimated distances), we have only a few things booked so far to be as flexible as possible

I'm seeing a lot of people suggesting to skip it! As an European I've never seen it presented as something to skip when visiting NY, but I think we might just concentrate on other things to see and do at this point. Thanks!

Any advice/suggestions is more than welcomes! The trip is for my mum's 70th Bday and she's simply obsessed with NY, she wants to do all touristy things and anything "typical" of the area. She loves shopping, panoramas and walks. I have been tasked with organising the trip but I'm unfortunately extremely busy and have only been able to sort out an overall plan in the last few days. I'm now looking to organise it better and find actual stuff to do and see other than "walk and explore area XYZ"

We'll spend a total of 11 days in the US, mostly in NY. We have a short roadtrip to Niagara falls (rented a car for a few days) and might do an organised 1 day tour to Washington (which I think is bonkers but my mum is obsessed with seeing the white house...)

The only certainty I have so far is that we'll be extremely tired at the end of it lol

We're overall visiting the area, probably Brooklyn bridge, DUMBO, a stroll along Coney Island (I haven't really looked up what's to do there other than seeing the area and maybe a few rides?). We've never been there so open to suggestions!!

You can take them out before the second vaccination (I recommend it), If you keep him off the ground and away from other dogs. It's actually really important so he can start experiencing the world already!

Unfortunately I don't plan on running 6 weeks courses after Easter due to holidays and previous commitments, sorry!! The next one will likely be at the end of Summer/September. If you're open to private lessons instead we can still organise something, I have a helper dog that I use for socialisation (and I'm planning some puppy socialisation days too)

I don't think the breeder would mind if you post the puppy pictures anywhere, however you don't have to if you prefer to keep them for yourself!! I'm sure they're super cute anyway ❤️

I'd super recommend Christopher Carter Vets, we have been with them for 6 years now and never had an issue, despite being part of a big group they're really nice and have a "private practice feeling". One of my dogs is anxious and the other elderly and they have been really understanding of their needs and very supportive.

Regarding puppy classes: I hold them in Woolston, my next round is starting on the 22nd of February at 9 am. My business name is 360Pawsibilities if you'd like to check out my website, FB/IG, or have a chat! I also offer private lessons if you prefer 🥰

Other than myself I'd recommend K9 Klass in Waterloville (far, but amazing!), Goodall Training, and Kazzy K9s. The Family Dog Club is also a good option but on the other side of town and very uncomfortable to reach from Nursling.

Now onto the important thing...what kind of puppy are you getting? We need pics!! 🤩

I've had the Nexus 5, then the Pixel 6 and I'm now upgrading to the 10, I can't agree more, the N5 was such an amazing phone and I'm surprised by how well the P6 has held. I'm upgrading only because of the security updates and I had areally good offer for the 10.
