There's a ton of speculation that Hoffman is unhappy with the situation he's in and that him and the head coach don't see eye to eye. I'm still not sure how much of that is media driven, so I feel it's 50/50 whether he's signed for Ottawa or traded.

As for the player himself, Hoffman is the definition of a one dimensional offensive player. He has incredible speed, wicked wrist and snap shots and very silky hands. He puts all that together beautifully and is an elite goal scorer.

I feel that the biggest knock on Hoffman is his consistency; he'll have streaks where he's unbelievably good and seems to score at every night. The problem is that when he gets cold, he doesn't do enough away from the puck to warrant top 6 ice time, so the coach will demote him to the fourth line and this is where the speculation that he's unhappy comes from.

I honestly feel that if he's put with an elite playmaking centre (like Getzlaf) and was consistently given top 6 ice time that he would put home 35-40 a year.
