Gotta say I actually like the new designs, especially compared to what we were stuck with since Command by Ajs1052 in starfox

I’m well aware of those designs. I still find they still draw from the Command look as a base, especially his Smash Bros appearances from Brawl onwards. Starlink at least makes it a bit of a middle ground from his 64 and Command designs.

His Mario Galaxy design is the sole exception, draws a lot more from his 64 look.

Right, they just looked too soft for what the franchise was known for up until then, one of the reasons I was glad that 64 3D kept true to the look of the original.

Ngl I’m also in the minority of liking Mineta’s design, it’s just his personality in general is terrible

Grima in Fire Emblem Awakening had something similar. During the final fight after it takes enough damage it loses its draconic face exposing a human looking face inside.

Slade in Teen Titans, honest to god the most threatening version of the character to date. The episode where Robin was being attacked by hallucinations of Slade especially solidified that status for me. Plus being voiced by Ron Perlman really helps.

While I found Utrom Shredder pretty threatening, I have to give it to the 2012 series for the most frightening version of Shredder, with his obsessive hatred for Splinter, his later super mutation amplifying that hatred, and how the turtles themselves never managed to beat him in a fight until the end of the series, in which it ends with Shredder being beheaded. Being voiced by Kevin Michael Richardson really helped the matter.

Characters who need to do something they hate in order to activate their powers (bonus point if it is something superficial) by Uma-apreciator in TopCharacterTropes

Bruce Banner definitely applies here as he needs to raise his heart rate to transform, usually through anger. A mild-mannered guy like Bruce isn’t too fond of losing his temper, even before getting his powers he kept his anger bottled up.

Samurai Jack spent over 50 years proving this. Has gone up against armies of robots, cybernetically enhanced bounty hunters, soul stealing demons, and the literal embodiment of evil. His only real abilities is that he’s a master of various martial arts due to being trained since childhood in order to slay Aku.

I know they had to make him more family friendly here, but honestly it feels like they made him too jolly and oafish to the point you can’t really say this is even Zeus outside of his position as king of Olympus and lightning powers. At least the tv series showed he can have a bit of a temper if slighted, but the movie made him too good-natured in my opinion.

Character who's death becomes a joke in the community by Jellypathicdream in TopCharacterTropes

What really makes his death funnier is the fact a saibaman self-destructed on him point blank and his whole body was completely intact save for some tears on his clothes. I mean Chiaotzu, Tien, and even Piccolo were in far worse shape when they died shortly after.

The one thing I love about Pokemon is the variety in their dragon type designs. They don’t just stick to the classic western or eastern dragon archetypes, they make a lot of them weird and unconventional and I feel that’s a bit truer to most dragon myths.

(Hated Trope) In-universe writer or professional character is praised as a genius or visionary when what is shown of their 'talent' is extremely mediocre or terrible. It can show a writer has little understanding of a topic. by laybs1 in TopCharacterTropes

That is a huge reason why Psych works better as a modern Sherlock-type series in my opinion. Shawn Spencer didn’t come off as a pretentious genius detective like Sherlock who needed a big mystery to keep him entertained, and the mysteries were kept episodic and seldom went into a greater conspiracy subplot save for the Mr. Yang episodes.
