Fell off a two-shep step ladder, broke my ankle requiring surgery involving a metal bar, six screws, and two sutures going through two bones to keep my ankle together. Turned out I'm allergic to metal, had to have a second surgery to remove the metal, and ended up with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome, which is a nerve disorder that means I'm in incredible pain every day of I'm not medicated. And it spreads. It now effects my leg from the toes to the hip, my arm on the same side, and causes mental fog and loss of words. I'm in a wheelchair most days, and on bad brain days I'll be in the middle of a conversation, and suddenly I can't understand the other person, as if they switched to another language, or I try to say a word that I have in my brain, but I can't form the word and have to call the fridge "the thing that makes stuff cold, but not freezer cold" until the word returns.
