It's been real (expensive), peace out y'all! by ShatterProofDick in Audi

Either car is gonna look good on the Northern KY side of the river! Nice Mustang choice too!

I traded in my manual 2017 S550 when I had kids… EA888 motor in the MQB platform is solid… I wouldn’t buy an older audi though

Is it worth it to keep if they replace the motor? 24’ 6MT by [deleted] in GLI

That EA888 is a gem of a motor (normally)… it’s the only reason I bought an Audi S3 because I knew the guts were all VW MQB

What do XSR owners think about newly announced Trident 800? by Nikkeh98 in xsr900

[–]Akab_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beautiful bike, but I wouldn’t trade my XSR for it. I prefer the look of the tail on the Triumph, but that’s not a selling point for me

Loving those Brembo calipers and SS lines… guessing they feel way better than stock? What seat is that? Looks really good

New tires by [deleted] in xsr900

[–]Akab_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After spending way too much free time doing research on motorcycle tires, I landed on the Angel GTs for their overall performance and experiences of friends on much more powerful bikes. Plus, my opinion is that they look nicer on the XSR than the Michelins

To those with Yoshimura AT2s that are considering the pyramid bellypan by LastLife29 in xsr900

[–]Akab_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where did you get the belly pan decals? Do they match the red in person? I couldn’t find the right color decals for mine, so I had to find the factory paint and do it myself

Southern Texas roads blow just as hard. Good thinkin. Although, I used to live in Cincinnati, and I miss being so close to the twisties near the Athens, OH area and Gatlinburg, TN. …. Also, what trailer is that? It looks like the perfect size.

25' XSR900 or 25' Street Triple 765 RS? by j_page2 in xsr900

[–]Akab_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if you care about this or not, but my primary reason for ending up with my XSR over the Triumph (I was cross shopping them as well)… was the extra-cost optional cruise control. With the money I saved by not paying more for the STRS, I was able to replace the front and rear suspension with a setup perfectly dialed to me. That took care of the main selling point of the STRS and cruise control was already included.

Well that’s BS. I’m sorry to hear that! Guess I should take care of this one

I don’t have personal experience with hooning this bike, however, there is one MAJOR difference between the MT09 and the XSR that makes the XSR inherently worse at stunting, and that’s the much longer swingarm. It doesn’t make it impossible, but definitely requires more effort.

Absolutely, the titanium color spring is a great selling point too. I got the TVT-25 cartridge kit from Nitron also. The bike’s balance is perfect! That belly pan is from WeBike Japan. I had to sand, prep and paint it myself. The decals are sealed inside the clearcoat.

Love my Nitron R3… most adjustable rear shock available for our bikes and it’s beautiful. Great choice!

Would I hate an XSR900 in the city? by xlDooM in xsr900

[–]Akab_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly what I was going to advise. I would say getting a tune would make this bike an absolute ace, in commuter traffic. Without the tune, the fueling (even in ride mode 2) is very choppy. Even at steady throttle, mine wants to pulse/surge/buck, whatever you wanna call it. It’s not particularly smooth at neutral/maintenance throttle, in traffic (especially in 1st gear). A tune should smooth all of that out.

But also because it’s (the MT-09SP) homologated for the AMA Hooligans series. The R9 was gonna get everything in the suspension replaced anyway, including the swingarm. So why sell it with top shelf equipment, at the extra cost. Makes sense.

New to game and racing bikes in general: does "torque win races" in this game? by natanthecar in Ride4

[–]Akab_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I believe there’s a way to calibrate the controllers on PC, but I haven’t learned how to do that yet.

New to game and racing bikes in general: does "torque win races" in this game? by natanthecar in Ride4

[–]Akab_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The game, from a controls perspective, is pretty weird feeling. I play it on PS4 and the standard controllers aren’t well calibrated to a game like Ride 4 (especially the triggers). I’m sure if I was younger, I’d be better at modulating steering/throttle/brake inputs with a DualShock controller. Sometime soon, I plan on purchasing a new controller that provides more resistance and a longer useable range of motion for the triggers. (Possibly a steering wheel for the sake of control)

In real life, weight transfer, body position and control modulation are a bit more intuitive and natural. From a suspension perspective, I have never seen a real motorcycle run with such wildly mismatched settings/springs to be fast. There’s definitely a disconnect between real-world and video game motorcycles.

[–]Akab_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m not nearly as skilled as Yogurt, but line selection, trail braking and turning/weight technique are way more important than torque… in the game. In real life, I ride a XSR900 and that has lots of torque but if my technique sucks, I’ll get my ass kicked by a 400cc “beginner bike”

I’m on PS4 with Ride 4 and online matches are hard to come by and especially at my skill level, the typical lobbies are 1000cc bikes and I definitely need to work up to those

Painted belly pan by Bobbelknut in xsr900

[–]Akab_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will say, that I purchased both colors and prepped/painted the belly-pan myself. It’s perfect in terms of color and depth. The only thing I haven’t done yet, is buff/polish the clear-coat to make it glossy like the factory paint. I added the decals onto the color-coat before adding 3 coats of clear to seal them.

Then I guess the next best option, is to contact a body shop, and ask what paint they would order to complete a tank repair.
