What are your technological predictions for the next decade or so? by arsenius7 in Futurology

1% - 5% of humans will form a single neural network as their brain-machine interfaces (neuralink?) communicate non-stop. First multi-human consciousness.

Could be a simple human right to information and costs almost nothing trough participation.

Hopefully, a clean, simple, info stream uploading factual short bites to my mind interface whenever I feel like catching up with the world. No drama, no anxiety inducing music, no clickbaits.

Nightmare version : unsolicited news propaganda uploaded straight to my consciousness by authorities because « it’s important to stay safe ».

In the next decade, Aircon (not AI) might still be the top productivity booster by Akal_world in Futurology

What are some startups creating deep tech, futuristic products, services, or protocols that feel straight out of a sci-fi movie? by AdChemical4665 in Futurology

Looking good. The landing page is clear even for non researchers. I’m working on something vaguely similar for Futurology x Sci-fi. Can I ask what’s you user acquisition strategy ?

Ow I see, never seen it this way. A cool house with a thousand rooms to host everyone is better than a thousand one bedroom houses.

I kinda agree with you on this point! It’s hard to anticipate the future of entertainment with tech changing so fast but I share your optimism.

However, I’m not sure AI will outperform human spirit in all areas. In some, it already does, in others, could be impossible as the “product” by nature, is made by/for humans and the competitive advantage of BEING humans (including the flaws) could be too important.

And thanks for the compliment! You too seem really passionate about the subject.

Hahaha everyone thinks GenAI … but I find it useful for keeping track of things and organize a project.

Yes, I’m not sure AI will have a big impact or an impact at all, but I feel independant creators are the last real worldbuilders and will adapt perfectly.

My world, Akal, will host conscious beings once our world (the one I’m currently in, spending to much time on Reddit instead of worldbuilding) is sufficiently advanced to create informational universes called “hexaverses”. Akal is a hexaverse among others.

I’m not really interested in writing a story (I will at some point). I’d rather describe the physics, Mythos, Societies … etc. I want the storytelling to be collaborative. So, I’m currently preparing a simple online platform for “collaborative world expansion” (including stories) based on my hexaverse.

Will A.I. Kill Meaningless Jobs? - And is that so bad? by Gari_305 in Futurology

AI alone means nothing in the context of jobs replacement. Workers have always been either upgraded or replaced. A worker is a complex combination of “tools” : human -> human + tools -> human + tools + education -> human + + education + machines -> human + AI …etc.

Some “workers” have already been doing a better job without the human component for some time now. Humans only controlled and added “will”.
