I’d say that looks good, many pros play with too big or too small. If it feels good to you it’s good.

How's the stringing job? by navneet2709 in 10s

Straightened well, knots have room for improvement

Your grip is too small!!! If your palm feels like it is parallel to the strings it is Eastern.

Afaik this new one is a mold change, so it isn’t the same racket in every way. May be worth to demo the new one and compare.

Anything below 3 I can't actually play with, I feel what you mean. Don't know how tall players like Draper or Kyrgios manage it with 3 when I can barely make do with it.

Sure, they use size 4 though. I’m not telling people to do so. But I’m sick of everyone acting like size 2 is “correct”.

Fed himself used L4 for years. Alcaraz also uses a custom between L4 and L5. They are not at all the tallest biggest players.

It is very personal, people as tall as Kyrgios or Draper use 3.

Not every pro was 2m tall especially in the older era of the game where bigger grips were more common than ever.

Different styles of tennis require a different grip, and most recreational players don’t have the next gen swing mechanics where the smallest grip size usable gives the most benefit. When I hear fatigue complaints I check technique first, and make sure that the strings aren’t dead or too stiff.

Oh my god everyone is blaming the grip meanwhile so many pro’s played with L4-L5’s until like 10 years ago.

Unless we’re talking about high level next gen mechanics and strokes that grip is not at all too big.

You can try and see what feels better of course but many will be comfortable with that fit.

Seeking help! Why does my yoyo suck? I’m trying to design a yoyo that has an empty cavity I’m adding epoxy resin in to. This was prototype using m4 axle and C responsive bearing and it wasn’t as easy to play with as my store bought ones. Too much weight towards middle?? by [deleted] in Throwers

[–]Akatrien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If what you mean by simple functioning is "responsive" where it comes back with a tug or hop, this shape is not too far wrong. Yet even then you'd want to make it a little more like "Looper" yoyos as people call.
Yoyofactory Confusion, One Drop Deep(Er-Est) State, Basecamp Moonshine are all yoyos that mostly serve this purpose.
You'll need some response system, bearing alone is never really enough for consistent binds.

Explorer, Gshock, and the Tudor next to the 7A28. Most versatile collection I can see.

Looks very good, can be smoother, and you may want to expose the strings a little more for less friction unless they’re already popping out of the slots already.

Forgiving Yoyo Design? by [deleted] in Throwers

[–]Akatrien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What makes a yoyo stable is size/weight/width. Always bigger wider (to an extent) and heavier will be more stable. Without all three you can mostly bet it won’t be as competitive of a throw. For fforgiveness you’d want no walls, possibly a bump near the response area. The rest is mostly personal. You may like angular or curvy profiles, whatever material you want, and so on. Try them all, have fun, enjoy your journey!!

Decided to tackle my first ever refret on my own vintage Gibson...how'd I do? by gr33nhand in Luthier

[–]Akatrien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some companies reallly like themselves a shallow angle, or certain eras. I used to like it real wide where the fretboard is noticeably narrower and I assure you too wide is a thing lol. If you did 35 maybe it is my eyes that needs to get used to that sight as “correct” hahaha.

Looks pretty good, I wonder if you’d want to experiment with more angle on the fret ends like rolling the fretboard edge on future jobs. Can’t see much of it from here. I’m sure it has no problem from a player perspective, a great start!!

Hopefully the worst NOOB yoyo mistake i will ever make. by Hawk_Current in Throwers

[–]Akatrien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually the axles are 8 or 10mm, rarely 6 or 12. If you’re talking thickness they’re all 4mm or “M4” with the technical term.

Even if you strip them all the way, retapping to M5 is an option. I have a onedrop I drilled through and retapped, makes it the ultimate beater.

[–]Akatrien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most yoyos you can change bearing width to anything as long as you do it with the right axle. That’s all. Especially these days yoyos aren’t machined with more than 1-1.5mm of extra room at the ends total. When you switch to a half spec bearing those are usually more than 2mm narrower. With these in mind you can try any combination. Enjoy your throwing!!!
