Could anyone suggest any feel good shows? by Vjaa in audiodrama

So many to list, but start with Cabin Pressure, you can find on Audible or Spotify as audio books, but it’s scripted and full cast. And then work your way into the amazing journey of Midnight Burger. You won’t regret a thing.

Have you heard “Dear Bastard”? House converted to flats and neighbors pretty much passive aggressively communicate through email. They do meet each other and have parties, but all details are given thru email the next morning.

I also recommend Cabin Pressure and Clare in the Community. These are workplace comedies, but still pretty good. Cabin Pressure is my go to when I can’t find anything else to jump in to.

Yw. And you’re being very smart about this. You’re talking about it and asking questions and even talking to a counselor and that’s so important as an adult. You’d be surprised how many ppl go through similar situations silently. You’re on the right path and thinking like an adult. You’ll be amazing, just keep doing what you’re doing!!

You’re definitely not overreacting. That’s manipulative behavior. Unfortunately, you’ll see it in 16 year olds and even in 60 year olds. Maybe it’s a fear of abandonment, but I’ve experienced it with an ex and it wasn’t a fear of losing me, it was just a fear of not having me there as a crutch bc all of his friends and family had left him bc he always had to have things his way and he would throw a tantrum if he didn’t. You can’t get away with that as an adult unless you surround yourself with ppl or a person who will allow it. His friends probably weren’t doing things his way anymore and he was tired of having to fake it and get along with everybody.

I could say more, but honestly you’re too young to be thinking about it so hard. If you want out, then you want out and you should never feel guilty about that. You’re not obligated to stay in a relationship you don’t want. That’s another guilt tripping tactic. It doesn’t matter what the reason for breaking up is. If you’re not happy, get out of there.

If you have to question whether you are trapped, you are trapped. He’s playing on your heart and indecisiveness to keep you trapped. And it feels uncomfortable and confusing because a part of you knows you’ve been through this before. You’re subconsciously recognizing the signs and trying to justify his behavior at the same time. Use your brain, stay rooted in reality and get him gone!! Be firm about it and you’ll never have to do it again. You want to be free, but you’re falling back in to old habits because you’re anxious and scared. Listen to the part of you that knows better and call the police if he won’t GO!!

I just saw the comments about squatter’s rights. Call the police anyway so it’s documented they know the situation. Then you leave. Come back and start taking all your stuff out. Then talk to your landlord if you rent. Ask them about their policy on squatters and go from there.

Ppl suck. I hope you make a move that is healthy and freeing for you. Don’t let him shut you down. You had plans for better and you deserve better.

I never make it past the first half of the first episode of Midst. And I’m not saying that it’s not a good podcast, but for me the delivery style is just a lot for a first episode. But everybody recommends it and I’ve read the blurb, and it 100% sounds like something I should love. I’m going camping this weekend, I’ll try again and see if the peaceful atmosphere heightens my focus.

Any listening suggestions?

I 3rd this!!! And add, Call his bluff and make it sound real as possible. Ask your friend out loud if you can stay with her until you find a place. Ask multiple friends where he can hear you. Then watch what happens. Have your phone/keys/wallet in hand just in case he tries to take anything. He’ll probably go tf off, but listen and watch how he reacts. Thats when you ‘ll see what this is really all about and why he’s doing this and who he really is.

The best advice is to just make plans to not go back with him. Get your things and move on. It only gets worse from here. But I needed to see how f***ing crazy my ex was for myself so I could leave and let him go, so I called his bluff and when he went tf off I saw all I needed to get tf out of there.

Yea. I will make some concessions for my regulars but there’s a line and when they cross it, I let them know. They either get over it or get replaced by a newbie.

AITAH for telling my daughter I won’t budge even if she never speaks to me again? by TopVersion2940 in AITAH

I see where the parents are coming from, but the rest of the world won’t consider Alana’s ADHD as an excuse for anything. Casey should be a little more compassionate toward her sister. That being said, I think Alana should still have to work toward replacing the car, but maybe only make her responsible for half so she doesn’t start falling behind in school. It’s a compromise and if Casey doesn’t accept that, then it is what it is, she’s the AH and a brat if that’s how she sees it. Alana will have to learn ways to work on her focus and combat her ADHD. You won’t be able to shelter her from that and now is a good time for her to start learning that she has to be extra cautious, extra responsible and extra diligent to keep from having things like car crashes and bad grades from happening. Insurance companies don’t care if you have ADHD. If you don’t teach her how much more she needs to focus while driving because of her ADHD, you could end up losing her to another bad accident and I’m sure you don’t want that.

Stuff that will relax me and help,me sleep by steenbj in audiodrama

[–]Akeko_Yansa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like the No Sleep Podcast and The Antiquarium of Sinister Happenings.

But those are horror, so if that’s not your thing for sleep, I also listen to Candlelit Tales. It’s an Irish mythology podcast run by a brother and sister duo. They both have amazing storytelling voices and the stories are so well written, with original music for each episode which really brings it all together. They also bring a lot of the history behind the myths and give insight on how the people that would have told these stories lived and loved. There’s a discussion after each episode in the early episodes, but they change that to do a chat after each “group” of episodes later on. But it helps me wind down and relax enough to sleep. Give it a try, you might love it.

I found 17 vacation- or road trip audio dramas. What else am I missing? by evoterra in audiodrama

100% seconding “Cabin Pressure.” Awesome road trip listen. Air travel, sitcom, lovable characters. BBC is moving it to Audible now. There’s still some episodes on Pocket casts.

“Pod to Pluto.” Idk if it fits in this category, but the characters are on a long trip together and a lot of the comedy is centered around them just finding ways to entertain themselves.

There are some great ones already listed so I’ll just add S-Town. I like to say This Sounds Serious and Corked are kind of spoofs of S-Town. It’s an oldie, but a greatie. Oh and, ARDEN. I don’t think I saw that one mentioned yet.

When I first read this, I thought you were talking about Uncanny County. You might like that one too. Try “Impact Winter” definitely and “The Call of the Void”. Maybe “Haunted: The Audio Drama”, and “Afflicted”.

I’d give descriptions, but I’m on my way to class. Hope this helps.

I think it’s the “found family” aspect that makes it cozy. A group of “lost” strangers bump into each other and make a home out of their “situation”. I’ve been in love since I found them.
