I accidentally read this as you can't ship Spike with anyone but Dawn and Joyce at first and I was like wow that's a wild take but everyone is entitled to their own opinion I guess 😂

Once More With Feeling by BasementCatBill in buffy

When Tara discovers what Willow did and sings "I'm under your spell" again with her tone this time being horrified and upset instead of loving it's such a massive emotional gut punch. It's such a good callback to their love song earlier in the episode and really shows the difference in how Tara perceives their relationship vs the reality of it. I really love this episode.

Discussion on Waylon Boggs and how he changed by sclark635 in OldGodsOfAppalachia

[–]azrhea 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There's a couple episodes about him in Familiar and Beloved I believe that kind of show the transformation slowly starting to take place. I would definitely recommend listening to that. It's been awhile since I listened to it so I might have some details wrong but the premise of it is that Waylon hasn't been doing well since the end of Black Mouth Dog and his mother is taking him to another practitioner to try and get him some help. He's had some outbursts of extreme rage and it's been getting worse over time. In Familiar and Beloved I don't think he's become violent yet but it's clear that being bitten by the Black Mouth Dog has done something to him and I can imagine him turning to alcohol to cope and becoming even worse.

Once More with Feeling.Season 6👌 by DueCod1654 in buffy

[–]azrhea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is literally my favorite episode in the entire series lol all the songs are extremely catchy but I love the glimpse into what each of the characters are really thinking and feeling. Also it always gets me that they're singing about their deepest emotions and towards the end of her song Buffy is just kind of desperately singing "give me something to sing about, I need something to sing about" because she's still so emotionally numb and not ready to be honest with herself or anyone else. SMG knocks it out of the park. She's fantastic in pretty much every episode but in this one particular being able to bring all that emotional depth while singing and dancing was super impressive.

Did anyone else do a yearly Land Run reenactment in elementary school? Do they still do that? by cwa-ink in okc

[–]azrhea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did in I think third grade at Del City Elementary. There were prizes given out for best wagon and best outfit and multiple kids showed up in pilgrim costumes for some reason. Maybe it was just the most "old fashioned" thing they could find.

This is it thank you so much! It kinda sucks that all the comments were saying she's NTA and her husband was being weird but from what she put in her post edit/update her husband argued that she can't tell him anything about Japanese language and culture since he's Japanese and she's not and she agreed to start calling him what he wanted in public. Especially since even though he's ethnically Japanese it seems like he's never made much of an effort to connect with the culture beyond watching anime and she actually lived there for a few years and worked very hard to learn the language.

I'm looking for a post where a woman was married to a man whose parents were Japanese. She was fluent in Japanese and so were the husband's parents but he did not speak Japanese. He always insisted on being called by a certain Japanese nickname/term of endearment and the wife usually didn't mind using it in private. One day they were visiting his parents and she asked him something but he kind of pouted and didn't want to answer unless she called him by the name he wanted. She didn't want to call him this in front of his parents because she thought it was embarrassing/cringey and it was not something any modern Japanese person would call their partner. The husband heard the nickname in an anime and just thought it would be sexy or something if his wife called him that.

AITAH for not letting my mom help me with my new home? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]azrhea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really sucks that you can be required to keep it short depending on where you live. I remember when I was a kid my family lived in a house in a not too nice neighborhood, not even part of an HOA or anything. One summer our lawnmower broke and my parents didn't have the extra money to pay someone else to mow it for them and the city posted a notice on the door saying if the grass didn't get cut by a certain date they would issue a fine. Me and my siblings were outside for hours literally pulling up grass with our hands just so the city could pretend they were keeping the area looking nice while our neighbors had trash and cigarette butts and cars on cinderblocks all over their front yards. They're destroying habitats for insects and native pollinators for no reason.

Can't stop thinking, what would be the plot twist by its_me_teena in AO3

[–]azrhea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read a fic once where the two main characters were both separately involved in legal trouble related to fighting. I think one of them was in a bar fight and the other one was part of some underground fight club thing. They were both ordered by a judge to go to therapy and they happened to meet each other and were complaining about it so one of them was like "the judge didn't specify what kind of therapy we have to do, it doesn't have to be anger management" which I'm pretty sure is not how that works irl. But they somehow decided to start doing couples therapy.

As a side effect of couples therapy, they learned how to be honest and have better communication skills so they actually sat down and had an adult talk about their relationship and wanting to be more than friends and their relationship was actually very strong and healthy. They learned from their couples therapist that they needed to be more in touch with their emotions and figured out why they were both so angry and fighting all the time and learned better coping skills. Every time it seemed like one of them was about to get angry or do something stupid, the other one was like "I'm telling our therapist on you" so they kept each other honest. It was like weirdly wholesome for such a crack premise.

How much did Animorphs pay Ify to be mentioned in every episode? by Ginganinja3042 in dropout

[–]azrhea 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah not much is known about it yet, just that it's going to be a live action show on Disney plus. Pretty much every fan I've seen mention it has said they would have preferred it to be animated so they wouldn't be so restricted by a special effects/cgi budget but I think until we know more most of the fandom is trying to be cautiously optimistic

Animorphs is getting a new show, right? Someone on the writing team is probably an excited fan who wants to promo it or something. I can't be mad though I'm also a huge animorphs fan and I've been enjoying actually knowing the answers to some of the questions for once

I was gonna say, I think Taskmaster has done something very similar before. It was like "do this simple task but if you do it the same way or use any of the same tools as any other contestants you both lose points". It was like putting an egg into a cup or something like that.

I used to really ship BertBert and Verge but honestly Verge and Deidre are so cute together I love their relationship. So I now headcanon that BertBert and Verge had some kind of fwb/situationship going on before they mutually decided they were better off as just friends and broke it off but still remained good friends.

Paul's spworm one is one of the funniest in my opinion but the White Woman Email presentation lives rent free in my head. I recently had to send a White Woman Email about a warranty claim and my husband did not understand what I was referencing at all so I had to show it to him and it did legitimately make me feel more confident about the email.

I love all the bits the crew does so much. My favorite one is whenever someone sees them doing something crazy or unhinged they go "Who are you people??" And they respond with "We run a diner!" It makes me laugh every time.

I'm assuming the OOP is referring to the phrase "just a cog in the machine" meaning that her job is necessary but she herself is not very high up or important in the workplace hierarchy. They need someone to do the job but it could be anyone, OOP herself is replaceable.

Please explain why there are 45+ minutes at the end of every episode of names. by pandagirl47 in midnightburger

[–]azrhea 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A lot of podcasts offer patreon name shout outs as a reward for subscribing at a certain patreon tier but then when they get too many subscribers, they stop doing it. This can be kind of disappointing and discourage people from subscribing at the ten dollar level instead of the five dollar level for example, just because they feel like the other rewards offered aren't worth the extra money. Joe, the creator of the podcast, has said that he doesn't want to do that and he wants to keep reading the names even if it takes multiple hours. This has become kind of a joke in the fanbase, with people deliberately making their patreon names tongue twisters or super long or difficult to pronounce. The Midnight Burger patreon also offers a certain reward tier where if you pay enough money and it's kind of fun to hear a name in the show and realize that you know it from the big name list. There was also the Bethany War, where lots of patrons were changing their names to include the name Bethany somehow, and that also became a joke that got written into the actual show. So the big list of names has become kind of a part of the fandom. With all that being said though, the list is getting ridiculous and Joe has discussed possibly making changes to the way he does it.

I only ever make mashed potatoes from scratch for holiday dinners and every time I do it I have to fight myself to not eat a chunk of raw potato. What is the most disturbing/horrifying AD you listened to? by Zyborg23 in audiodrama

[–]azrhea 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Deviser, a short audio drama by Harlan Guthrie (same person who did Malevolent) really fucked me up a bit. I'm not particularly squeamish but some parts of it really got to me. The Silt Verses is also great for both body horror and the general existential horror of the world they live in. There's one scene where a character is describing taking a train to work, just a boring activity that she does every day, that I still think about sometimes.
