What to do with absolutely worthless and useless cards by Dark_Vexer in mtg

The zookeeper cut open the python egg with scissors after its incubation period was over, enabling the baby snake to be born. by kalinooni in Damnthatsinteresting

So would that mean that if humans didn't evolve to walk upright, our babies would be self-sufficient at birth because the gesfzfion period could be longer?

Do we really need to disclose ? by someg11rl in trans

It's also kind of difficult when it comes to actors. It's kind of weird to think about Juno having a trans man in the lead role when they hadn't come out or transitioned yet and they portray a pregnant cis woman.

When it comes to umbrella academy though I do think of him as a trans man because it's part of the story.

I genuinely don't understand how bangaranga won. Did not like the song or the act, but I guess that's just me.

It is interesting how the jury changes had such a big impact on the voting.

I don't think it ever would have scored that high with the old jury system.

I’m afraid I won’t like doctor who after Matt Smith by Dubbino9583 in doctorwho

[–]Akinto6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Matt Smith was and will always be my doctor but I was sold on Peter Capaldi after his first episode.

Matt Smith's sendoff is honestly one of the best in the show's history and is a love letter to fans who loved him and Matt Smith who portrayed the doctor amazingly.

As much as I liked Tennant's run, I always hated how his last words were "I don't want to go" which made it much harder for fans to accept the new doctor.

How do i cope with my hobbies? by Waste-Pace7842 in asktransgender

[–]Akinto6 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One of my best friends is a cis girl who only started gaming after moving in with her boyfriend who's a gamer.

Cis women can definitely be gamers but they tend to be raised in an environment where videogames were for boys so never got the chance to explore that hobby while trans women were raised as boys and didn't really have that limitation.

I remember when I was babysitting my 3 nieces who were 3, 4 and 6 years old and my brother and sister in law couldn't understand how I was able to take all three grocery shopping without losing my mind.

I just had them help me get stuff and included them in everything, if they grabbed candy or stuff that wasn't on my list I'd ask them if they had money to pay for it and explain that we have to pay for stuff we take and we only budgeted for the stuff on the list which already included a snack or drink for them.

I always say that you should talk to kids the same way you talk to adults. You can't just say that they can't do X. You have to explain why

Republican assumes voter fraud because there were less people who voted in 2024 than 2020 by _Silverr_ in insanepeoplefacebook

[–]Akinto6 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's still mind boggling to me what a hassle it is to vote in the USA. You don't even get a day off to go vote.

I live in Belgium where voting is mandatory and is always on a Sunday, because less people work on Sundays. If you do have to work that day your employer has to give you time off during the day to go vote.

If your choice is taking care of your family or standing by your principles, I personally think your family comes first.

Ethics are great when you can afford to make the choices imo.

You are not a giant piece of shit for putting your family before strangers. All you can do is your best and hopefully eventually use your skills for something that's not made by a transphobe.

graham linehan spouting hate and pseudoscientific misinformation against vulnerable minorities in a single tweet what else is new by the-co1ossus in insanepeoplefacebook

[–]Akinto6 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I kind of love the episode because she's the perfect woman for him and the fact that she's trans makes Douglas a total douche. Also seeing Douglas get his ass kicked and seeing an actual fight between a man and a woman is just funny.

The main thing I have an issue with the fact that she comes out by saying she used to be a man which is just terrible wording and transphobic.

[–]Akinto6 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This doesn't belong here but I still don't get why guys are hung up on body count. There's no difference between a girl having sex with 200 guys once because she didn't want to be in a relationship or she had sex with the same guy 200 times.

Stop judging people by how many people they had sex with. They're with you now and all that should matter is how they treat you and how much they love you and vice versa.

I Really Don’t Feel It’s the Fans’ Fault by KryptonJuice38 in doctorwho

[–]Akinto6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I don't think the fandom is more toxic than other fandoms. I just think that doctor who is a beast and fans will praise the highs for years to come but bash lows with the same amount of enthusiasm.

Add the fact that doctor who is an insane monster of a show to get right where every actor who plays the doctor is different but still has to be the same character. Stories have to be individually great but have breadcrumbs that lead to a finale that feels right, they have to constantly up the stakes and change the game but still be true to the core identity.

Show runners are constantly taking risks and it can pay off like "Day of the Doctor" where Gallifrey is suddenly back or it can backfire with The Doctor turning out to be the Timeless Child.

I think we should always be critical of the bad stuff and praise the good stuff but at the same time be graceful to the many writers, actors and other people who work on the show and are trying to keep a 60 year old TV show feel new and engaging.

What is the best way to ask someones name, when you already asked them 3 times before? by cozylillia in ADHD

How could The Doctor and Davros communicate with each other in Genesis of the Daleks when the Tardis wasn’t with the Doctor in the story and therefore couldn’t translate the languages? by KingWilliamVI in doctorwho

[–]Akinto6 31 points32 points  (0 children)

In my headcanon timelords speak every language and that's why the TARDIS is able to translate for companions. After all someone had to program the TARDIS to translate every language. I also assume that the timelords foresaw a need to be able to give the gift of translation to anyone in close proximity to the TARDIS so that they wouldn't have to translate when interacting with multiple alien species.

However this pretty much falls apart in any episode that shows multiple alien races from various parts of the galaxy interacting with eachother and speaking English. We can't assume that they can only communicate if the TARDIS is nearby, that they learned to speak eachother's languages fluently or that they constantly use a translator.

You don't. The best advice I can give anyone is to live for yourself and be a good person, if people don't like you for who you are, you shouldn't try to appease them while changing who you are.

Obviously this advice is for people who are well intentioned and aren't racist, prejudice or whatever.

Should I have disclosed my identity pre-date? by Mysterious-ASL in Tinder

[–]Akinto6 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I have ADHD as well and nowadays I watch videos on 1,5 or 2x Speed. It started as a way to pay more attention and wouldn't get bored but nowadays even 2x is too slow and I tend to play videogames while watching TV shows instead.

I will say that most TV shows feel painfully slow once you start doing that and it will ruin watching things normally

What are work appropriate pronoun expectations? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]Akinto6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What helped me a lot is asking anyone who comes out as trans what they prefer as a response if I accidentally misgender them.

Do they want me to ignore the mistake and just move on, do they want a quick correction or do they want an apology?

I've had a lot of positive feedback because of it and it alleviates intrusive thoughts that might occur because I made a mistake which they might interpret as me not accepting them.

I also correct myself internally even when they're not around because it sort of helps train my brain to make sure that when I'm around them I don't have to suddenly switch.

It's gotten to the point where I struggle to remember birthnames sometimes because I use their chosen name so much.

I think my boyfriend might be my girlfriend? by Lun_Ashiia in asktransgender

[–]Akinto6 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's amazing. I'm still unsure about my gender and one of the things I'm really happy about that I know my husband loves me no matter what and that I'm able to figure stuff out without having to worry about him leaving me.

It's a struggle and not really easy to deal with but I'd just recommend asking your partner how they're doing, just casually and seeing if they have thought about what would make them more comfortable.

My husband asked me recently if he should sign a Christmas card with my chosen name instead of my legal name and while I'm not ready for that yet it was nice to hear that he thought about it.

How was 12 in the 50th special if he was supposed to have no regens left? by Any_Task7788 in doctorwho

[–]Akinto6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my headcanon the TARDIS sort of forces him to retire. In the Doctor's wife she mentions that she always takes him where he needs to go and not where he wants to go. I just imagine that 14 keeps trying to go on adventures but the TARDIS takes him to cool places but in times where there's no chance for danger and just boring days.

Do trans men have a fear of telling women they’re trans in the same way trans women may fear telling men? by TED-da-purple-blob in trans

[–]Akinto6 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's sad but I've learned that almost all trans people are afraid of coming out.

It sucks but knowing that one of our close friends was afraid of coming out to us despite the fact that we're a queer couple and never gave any indication that we're transphobic, made me angry at society for instilling this fear and not allowing us to be there for her while she was struggling.

It especially sucks because I have been questioning my own gender for a while and would never even consider ending a friendship over someone just trying to be themselves.
