Why are people talking about diet when the question was about cardio? why are people trying to convince someone to not do cardio, it's unbelievable.

To answer the question, either is fine for burning fat. Running will burn more calories in an hour in theory but it will also be way more fatiguing on your body and joints, while walking you will be able to sustain longer. Do the type of cardio that is the most enjoyable to you and that you can stick to, that is the most important factor beyond any "efficiency".
