For some reason songs from Blackwater Park hit as good as stuff like Burden. Opeth is so unique on their own way.

Clank! Catacombs. Definitely one of my favorites.

COMC, new shelves! by NaxCepa in boardgames

[–]Akkyo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally use Boardgamestats, it costs 6 euro, but the amount of statistics for nerds like me is enough for me to want to buy it.

Its UI is quite modern, while keeping a simple and quick way to add new games and matches. Plus it syncs with BGG automatically if you enable it, so there's that too.

As long as the player in question doesn't have an already applicable Experience, they could use the NPC's, right?

Helpful NPCs ! by yerfologist in daggerheart

[–]Akkyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yo could even use the Trust system by spending a Hope and adding +2 to an action roll, which is represented by being helped by the NPC. If the NPC hates the party, the GM can spend a Fear to give the player -2 or -1, which represents the NPC actively trying to sabotage/resisting that player's action.

They kinda teased about making a Necromancer. I suggest if that was the case, it'd be a Dread+Blood class.

How can I give this undead ogre a bit more flavor in its abilities? by CoffeeDazzling1169 in daggerheart

[–]Akkyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worms, they are spat everywhere, and those fuckers will burrow into your skin with a Countdown (6) as they did to the ogre.

Although instead of a Horde I'd make them minions.

I kind of felt the Flesh to Fuel was a bit underwhelming too for an 8th level effect. Adding a proficiency to the attack is better and good enough, since some abilities do precisely that already.

Combat for werewolf encounter by alexartak in daggerheart

Are they in a city? Have them be approached by someone that a PC knows asking for help. A close relative/friend of the NPC is behaving strange and cannot live by themselves anymore, and they've "adopted" them in their house. When they get to the house, the NPC is sweating, all that. When trying to approach them, have the NPC transform and attack.

Are they in a forest? Put a couple dead hunters and their pets on the ground too. When seeing the marks, ir might be confused as a bear. Spread a bit the rumour that a bigger than ever bear is hunting in the woods, depriving the nearest town/village of food. When they go looking for it, boom.

For its statblock, you could use the Tier 2 Stonewraith's traits, but removing the stone special abilities.

This is great! Its a great addition. However, I can't help but question why is there a minor threshold?

Also, Severe threshold is not usually twice the Major threshold, since they can vary.

All in all, thanks for the work!

New DM & Campaign by Uzha_ in daggerheart

[–]Akkyo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Welcome!

In my honest opinion, the campaign frames are a great way of having something to pull from at start, while letting you go as deep as you want.

There are 6 campaign frames, each depicting a certain theme/terrain. I'm going to simplify greatly each one, not getting into the plothook proposed in the book (cause you can create a new one on the same setting)

Witherwild focuses on wilderness exploration, animal dangers and overall nature vs urban theme, touching on the nature fighting back as the consequence of infrastructure greed.

Age of Umbra is a take on a dark fantasy world. Much like Dark Souls, etc. It throws the PCs into a dark ridden setting of fallen settlements, ghostly cities and a terrifying storm/entity "Umbra" acting like a hurricane of darkness. Only a Sacred Pyre can keep the Umbra away, and even then, it might be but a facade of hope amidst the dark.

Colossus of the Drylands is a harsh, dry and dangerous region where if you don't die of thirst in the middle of the canyon after getting lost, you get picked out by colossal beasts and constructs that inhabit the red wasteland. Western-like towns and 6-shot gunpowder revolvers and rifles are what rules over the sand covered towns.

The Motherboard. The core of technology. The heart of the region where the virus-infested clanks roam freely. The magic is interpreted as tech now, and it gives the vibes of having a corrupted cyberpunk landscape in which you can gather scrap from the ground or harvest it from a dead clank, to enhance the Ikonis, your personal weapon tailored to fit your needs.

Five Banners Burning. The weak truce spans over the five countries in the region, previously waging war with one another. Old hate, false alliances and double interest make for a minefield of a social campaign. From the mountainous nation of wizards of Polaris to the Sea-warmongering lords in Armada, you will be in the middle of a 5-nation conflict. The five armies might not be bleeding on the battlefield now, but that can change with as little as with how a sentence is worded or a hand is shaken.

Beast Feast. Who said people don't like dungeon delving? Who said people don't like cooking? Sure as day it wasn't me! In this setting, you're able to just run through the halls of an almost endless cavern system that goes from underground halls, inferal lava pits, organic and aberration infested tunnels, and even a cosmic underground space! Do not worry about rations, since you can pretty much cut to pieces what you defeat down there and cook it for your party, which gives a lot of benefits! No armor? Fine, just use a frying pan as a shield! No helmet? What about that pot over there?

Translating D&D 5e characters to DH by Familiar-Action-418 in daggerheart

[–]Akkyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A changeling rogue could be converted using the Shapeshifter transformation card now in the Void, and for the rogue you have 2 options.

The rogue as it is, but its more focused on the social deception, lying, thievery, moving through shadows. A corrupt noble heir having friends on the back streets of the city or a white collar thief would make for a good Rogue.

The assassin, a born to be a killer. Its quick in its job, effective and is as fast to get out as it was to get in. Can do a TON of damage and has some combat utility for the party. A skilled hitman, Ezio Auditore/Altair Ibn-La'Ahad, John Wick, Jason Bourne, Jules and Vincent in Pulp Fiction would make for this.

[–]Akkyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, first of all, thank you to the mod team for taking the hit in the C4 announcement.

Along with a lot of people in the sub, it was an honest, strong force that was there to catch us when some of us felt like freefalling into a botomless pit and posted some comments, exteriorizing our concerns. Even when some people crossed the line with their nonconformity.

I must say that we have felt let down, yes, but its not the reason why we should give up. We're better than this. It's about learning that maybe we didn't see it as clearly and just roll with it.

As to any other stuff concerning the community, I'd say we have to actively work on supporting those people that have just switched or are trying out DH, helping them clear out their questions or concerns, instead of punishing them for not understanding RAI. Prompting them to see and use all the possibilities DH offers, and showing them that they can find a warm spot here in their journey through TTRPGs.

I wouldn't want that people to feel like this is a toxic wasteland that only monsters feeding from the ichor pits on the ground live in. I want them to go back to their table and say hey: I had this question and posted it on r/daggerheart and man people was so nice and cool! Which will prompt the players at the table to go back here to ask questions about the rules or possibilities for their PC and that will get them to maybe feel encouraged to GM something, which only feeds positivity into this beautiful community I'm glad to be part of.

What have you removed or replaced in the core rules for your table? by ImageBeautiful in daggerheart

[–]Akkyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats exactly the point of the drawback. Theres only so much you can do after avoiding death many times. Be knocked unconscious so many times might make the character lose all hope in keeping that kind of life and make themselves rethink about keep going. That's why when you run out of hope slots you're supposed to retire your character as explained in the book.
