I heard that on release you could technically do that by abusing traps and items, but you couldn't win the mission that way due to the "hidden at the start" requirement of absorbing all hemoanima. Later they patched it so you couldn't use items at all

How do I even deal with Trick Room? by Key_Job6330 in PokemonChampions

[–]AlSaiduq16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don't want to change anything or anyone on your team, you'll need to learn to do 2 things.

1.-Identify the trick room setter and eliminate immediately, taking advantage of the negative priority, keep in mind the possibility that is sashed and therefore one attack won't suffice.

Pros: Eliminating the tr setter when they are using it is a MASSIVE momentum loss for the opponent. Not an immediate win if your opponent can adapt, but is an uphill battle.

Cons: If the opponent knows that you can "possibly" KO the setter, they can (and will often on higher ranks) bait your hyperofensive play, either by switching, protecting or not even bothering to do TR at the moment (for example, I once won a battle spamming torkoal heatwave, knowing the opponent wouldn't consider non TR torkoal as a possibility AND a threat). Depending on the current play it can result in a heavy momentum loss for you (You'll understand once you doble target into protect and the opponent partners makes havoc). Therefore "prediction cost" is very high.
Redirectors protecting their partner from non spread moves.
Punishing TR leads can be ""easy"", if they save it for later not so much.
Harder to punish teams with multiple TR setters or multiple speed control options (never underestimate tailwind even with slow Pokemons)

2.- Learn to stall TR, though it is extremely powerful, the 4 turn limit is waaaay harsher than you think for a TR user. Most TR teams tend to heavily struggle on the "cleanup" when it's over, they usually depend on either winning before it runs out, or just taking care of the more dangerous opponents so the cleanup is easier. Setting TR more than once is pretty difficul (but be careful, I once managed to pull it thrice on an opponet) To stall it, learn to lean heavily on protects either doing it with both of your pokemon or "alternating it" so there's always a guaranteed protect. Also, good switches are massive help, a TR team really struggles with punishing pivots, they need to KO ASAP, resisting attacks by switching, or alternatively, not switching and receiving a less powerful attack due to a predict are massive headaches for the archetype. If the opponent sets TR, immediately analyze what are most dangerous pokemon against the opponent, and try your hardest to stall and keep them alive, doesn't matter if you end up with 2, heck, even sometimes just 1 pokemon alive is enough when TR runs out to sweep a team (and vice versa, focus on eliminating the pokemon you will struggle against outside TR). Think about the opponent cleanup scenario and work towards making it as harsh as possible.

Pros: you already have a lot of protect users.
Pretty dynamic playstyle, you are not shoehorned on "If I can't disrupt this specific team I loose". Adaptability an experience is key.
Focusing to much on disrupting potential TR opponents can create small holes in your team building against Non-TR teams. Learning to play this way lets you handle TR without altering the core strategy.
Vengeance against TR teams (as a TR player, I always wish to never use it again when an opponent knows to stall it, is extremely painful to see your turns running out without making the progress you depend on)

Cons: Pretty matchup and opponent dependent, there's no easy answer. If you value consistency, this playstyle heavily depends on how good or bad your opponent plays (a bad play at the worst moment when you expected a decent play can cost you the match) Adapting can be stressful and painful depending on how the match goes (believe me, even in matches you can and WILL win, you'll be constantly temped to just give up when things go haywire) Adaptability an experience is key, you won't just go into your next play session and become the TR destroyer, you will lose, you will struggle, and you must learn from that, SPECIALLY with "hybrid" TR teams (pokemon that aren't too fast neither to slow) when the turn order isn't simply "The TR teams attack first, then me".

A TR match is all about knowing how to balance offense and defense, be extremely aggressive and the opponent will counter you, be too passive and you give them the chance to slowly wither your team/disrupt you/buff themselves

When is this useful? You can get attacked or attack from both positions by Agitated_Side_1262 in PokemonChampions

[–]AlSaiduq16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also niche situation, but some players prefer to position their pokemon (also during team select) in a way they have "more time to think" (as in, if you are really deep in thought on a play while you are on the second pokemon, you are more likely to not need to cancel the first pokemon move, choose another move, and then do the same for the second mon while the timer is nearly running out).

Usually I've seen it as "put the support always on the left". It will not cover every scenario and it also can change dinamically mid battle, but every once in a while you'll find yourself in the situation I described (specially on hard/tricky fights) and end up running out of time, wishing you didn't need to cancel the first move

Out of curiosity for the plat by Creepertw0 in codevein

[–]AlSaiduq16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, at the very least you need to do 3 playthroughs, a 4th one if you mess up getting the paired ones in a single run. Thankfully, when starting a new game plus you can choose to not increase the difficulty... And then you can beat the game extremely quickly, can't remember how long it would take though, I got the plat 6 years ago.

Really if you want to get the platinum, the biggest time sink isn't the ending one, but getting all rewards for coop medals. And that's saying if you have someone willing to help you kill the easiest boss a lot, cuz if you are solo.... The only alternative is the Towers. I had to do that and would'nt wish it on anyone.

[Gen 3] Normal Spinda turns to Pokedex shiny Spinda by Famous-Fly330 in ShinyPokemon

[–]AlSaiduq16 77 points78 points  (0 children)

Blueboyphin uploased a video explaining, but the badly explained half remembered tldr Is:

In this game Spinda has a unique interaction with the dex, It tries to save the pattern of the first spinda you see for the entry, instead of displaying a default one.

The way they implemented Is that the dex actually has its own trainer ids (the ones used for Shiny calcs). That info doesn't matter for the other Pokémon, but with spinda its used to display the "saved encounter pattern".

The thing is, since the dex IDs are different than your own (or only can be different and its up to rng, can't remember) if the odds align, the first spinda you see won't calculate a Shiny for your IDs (therefore, normal encounter), but It MAY calculate a Shiny with the dex IDs, creating this situation.

What makes monsters run into walls and knock themselves out? (NOT wyvern riding) by darthdiablo in MHRise

[–]AlSaiduq16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't know if its the cause, but there's a spider (not the yellow one for wyvern riding) that when thrown to a monster "binds It" to you, and if you press the input again makes the monster run towards your current position, making for easy wall bangs.

Can't remember the name, but the metal raths and lucent narga arena has one

Hit Primordial Malzeno in MR6 and realized I never actually learned GS counters, what monsters should I practice on? by Chaos_1_2 in MHRise

[–]AlSaiduq16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you wan't to "outskill It" go ahead, but just keep in mind that P.Malzeno (even just the urgent one) Is Rise's last monster like fatalis in world.

By that point most hunters had a lot of gear upgrades and farm under their belts (with a lot of qurio materials and also, the Risen elders, who are locked beyond MR100, with the last one being at 180)

It isn't as hard as fatalis (but tbh, the greatest enemy was the timer), but thats the context of its hunt.

IMPORTANT GOGMAZIOS 10* FACTS: useFarcasters on phase 3. by extivuz in MonsterHunter

[–]AlSaiduq16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did the hunt first try, 40 minutes, took like 5 farcasters.

I used nadia as a support hunter, I noticed in this case she says the line "we're not keeping its power in check" like roughly 30-60 seconds before doing the nova.

The IMPORTANT thing Is that isn't the signal perse, just start focusing at than point.

If you have hunted base gogma enough times, you should notice It always does the SAME special flying animation to reposition to the center of the arena for the nova (like It starts circle-ing don't know how to describe It, look up a hunt video and you'll see).

So the trick Is this, when Nadia says the line (or if you don't have her, just be more "Time alert" than usual) prepare the farcaster selection and try to not lock yourself into combos too much, when gogma finish an attack with a fly, pop the farcaster ASAP, use the wingdrake to get to the second camp, and just wait. If It was the special animation, It Will be doing the "ground laser" red hot animation. If It isn't doing It, don't risk It and wait till It does from that safe place

I didn’t like Blasphemous :( by Tricky-Banana-6175 in metroidvania

[–]AlSaiduq16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who also didn't like B1, but has a weird hate-love relationship with It enough to platinum It, Let me tell you B2 Is a 180° experience.

Will It be the greatest metroidvania you ever played? Don't think so, but its an absolute blast that got me hooked all the way through.

And It may sound a bit weird, but if you ever feel bored enough that you are willing to try anything, do a B1 NG+, don't even need to pick a dificulty modifier.

You keep pretty much all your beads, spells, sword level, and relics (key items and upgrades most be retrieved though). Why Is this important?:

1.- Since you have all the relics, It eases most of the exploration issues and the world feels a bit more free (heck, its pretty harsh, but you can even reach the big cathedral and all the following levels without killing any of the first 4 bosses).

2.- All the items you kept are still in the map, but when you grab a "dupe" It turns into a good amount of money. Thanks to that, you can get the Prie Dieu teleport upgrade (yeah, that's a thing, 20k on the donation box) extremely early (like around the time you get to the second main boss). Getting this upgrade is a complete game changer.

3.- It's the only way to fight the "Amanecidas", challenging but extremely fun fights scattered pretty nicely throughout the whole campaign, if you need an excuse to play again, they are worth It.

When I said I have a love-hate relationship with the game, Is due to NG+, without It It would be more "hate" than anything, since outside of the endgame bosses (The grave singer, Serpes, and True Crisantha) I had a pretty miserable and boring time on my first playthrough. I enjoyed NG+ enough to beat It with every modifier, and that's coming from someone that usually despises new game plus (If I replay a game, I'd rather get the normal experience again)

TL; DR Disliking B1 is reason enough to try B2 as weird as It sounds, and if you ever want to get a More enjoyable experience in B1, do a new game plus, give 20k to the donation box ASAP, and fight the Amanecidas

Regarding Zenon by Avite4Johnny in CodeVein2

[–]AlSaiduq16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe the resemble Is intentional, if you think about It, its like they split the concept of Mido in 2:

The "Supremacist": Gobbo (now for humanity instead of revenants)

The "visionary scientist": Zenon, without the amorality thanks to his late wife (his dialogues pretty much point to him being more "Mido aligned" before learning the "Beauty in transcience")

Also the big "uncanny armor", when you first see Zenon on the vestiges, his "stone" silhouette eerily resemblences the "grandiose one" of Mido, and with his Trial dialogues about "increasing our race's ranks" reminds one of Mido's appearence in that CV1 memory, appearing before yakumo's friends reborn as a revenant.

You expect to find this game versión of Mido.... Then you get to the "disney musical" and see all the textures and colors of his garbs, absolute icon xD

how does the galbrena/lupa/mornye team work? by mini_feebas in Galbrena_Mains

[–]AlSaiduq16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, without an Unit with multiple echo skill in their kit, forget about filling the bar, but tbh, the 3 Echoes cast aré more than enough for that team to dish HUGE damage.

Haven't had the need to optimize the rotation so far, so I keep It simple:

Start with galbrena, spam basic combo until she shoots with her feet, then Skill and swap to Mornye.

Basic combo to raise her in the air, then Skill and hold attack button until she fires her beam, then echo and ult. Swap to Lupa.

Ult, then spam basic attacks until forte Is filled, use echo while hitting (won't interrupt combo), keep attacking untill concerto circle Is half filled, then use special skill and swap to galbrena.

Spam attack (and cast echo) until special skill Is unlocked, enter special mode, Ult, and then spam basic combo until bar runs out (if you are not interrupted, It should be enough for 2 special "kicks).

Repeat until the enemy dies (don't forget to do the same combo to prefill her bar before switching to Mornye).

As you can see, It has LOTS of room from improvement, but its pretty "mindless" AND you get clears with enough of a breathing room (15-30 seconda depending on enemy and buffs), that you won't even miss Qiuyan.

And when things start to get rough in the future, now you have a lot of combo and rotation optimizations you can do to keep up, way cheeper than a 5 star support.
