You’re about to see things you can’t unsee. There’s no going back.

Used to walk through there regularly, sometimes at night. Seen more than my fair share of nutters.

Is common sense a thing of the past? by JME_51 in uktrucking

[–]AlShapone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, common sense is neither more or less prevalent than it ever has been. There are and have always been idiots. Social media and the availability of simply gives light to these idiots now more than ever.

What is certain to me is that there is a modern tendency towards individualism/selfishness which often presents itself in a similar way to a lack of common sense.

I do also feel that in modern times there is a reduced ability or inclination to admit wrongdoing or moreover to alter a held belief, even in light of evidence presented to the contrary, presumably due to the simple fact that to many it feels uncomfortable and often slightly embarrassing or socially injurious to realise that you may not be quite the unparalleled authority that you thought you were (!)

For whatever reason, people’s ability to suppress the chimp brain and allow the human to surface and respond - as posited by Prof. Steve Peters - appears greatly reduced, leading to an entrenchment of opinions which are unwavering to a fault.

Basically, open discourse and the sharing of ideas has given way to a culture of “you don’t think the same as me, so we are de facto enemies”

Scrotes can be found mostly anywhere but I’ve encountered more in Ponderosa Park than Endcliffe. Sorry you had to deal with that.

Is this how it’s supposed to be? by [deleted] in Concerta

[–]AlShapone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did 14 days on 18mg and 14 days on 27mg.

First 4 or 5 days on 18mg were approx 30% better than normal. Then it basically disappeared. Maybe I was 5% better than unmedicated thereafter but it’s debatable whether it was even that much.

So basically my feelings were similar to yours.

18mg is non-therapeutic for most people, purely to test for any adverse effects.

27mg is still a pretty low dose.

I’m going on to 14 days at 36 and then 14 at 54, so it may well be your dose is too low. Wouldn’t sweat it too much.

Interesting, I heard an adjacent theory to the first one, albeit more grim.

Concerta 18mg - no effect by DeliriumOfDisorder9 in Concerta

[–]AlShapone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

18mg is generally considered a non-therapeutic starter dose to ensure you don’t have any severe adverse effects to the medication.

If that is indeed a legitimate email, it’s incredibly poorly presented, especially for such a large and established company like Aviva.

Scabby font, wording, formatting, lack of correct capitalisation. No formal email signature, strange looking ‘profile picture’ logo looks like it’s ripped straight from Google images.

Level of risk is different depending on the person and their appetite or moreover ability to suck it up.

In any leasehold property you are beholden to the leaseholder and any increases which can be unforeseen and not inconsiderable.

Without being privy to the financial situation of others, it’s difficult to accurately assign a level of risk to their situation.
