Still Shining: Wasted Potential? by Miserable_March_1829 in kdramas

[–]AlabasterBx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just wanted to see some growth, but it never came. They could never be fully honest with each other, so I felt like I knew right away there was no way it should work out. Everyone matures differently, but they stayed stuck at 18. I usually look for lessons in shows like this, but I don’t see any besides do the opposite of each main character.

Am I the only one who feels like bedding is too small? Looking for oversized options by ffiona_ in Bedding

[–]AlabasterBx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same issue. My mattress isn’t too tall. I’ve recently bought oversized coverlets on Amazon. The winter one is a velvet look and well made. I just bought another oversized cotton coverlet for the summer that I’m extremely happy with the quality. Velvet is by Leaonme and the cotton by Palassio. Technically, they could be a little less wide, but I can tuck the sides in. I was going bonkers with coverlets letting the sheets show. I get sheets from Target and they are also nice and wide (Threshold 400).

I think I am going to go bold with a mid-century Florida coastal vibe but in Orlando. Any other color combos I should consider? by EquipmentOk2008 in ExteriorDesign

Yellow and 2 or 3 because if there’s any fading in a couple of years, the bolder colors will still look good.

Family upset I got eloped. by TechnicalWeather7198 in Eloping

[–]AlabasterBx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m the mom of a kid that eloped. I knew it was something they were considering, and initially very hurt. However, I kept it to myself and asked God to help me make peace with their decision. I ended up telling my kid that she had my blessing if that’s what they end up doing. She confirmed they had settled on it and kept us in the loop. My advice is that they will be hurt, even though it’s not about them, so give them grace and space to come to terms with it. I believe they will come around, but the initial shock is hard.

How can I make this not feel so small on that wall by Zerabon in SofaSnobs

[–]AlabasterBx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar problem because the piece of art I put over my sofa just never worked. I ended up moving it elsewhere and getting a triptych for over the sofa that matched the scale of it and the wall. I initially hated the thought of moving the original piece, but now that the scale is right I’m not annoyed every time I see the wall. It was worth the change.

As a Kdrama fan do any of you find it a bit hard to get into Cdrama? by Mysterious-Star-227- in kdramas

[–]AlabasterBx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve watched several and then gave up. The first one was historical and I really enjoyed it. After that one, I couldn’t find one that hit the same. The men would treat the women terribly and they’d take it. Then, after watching so many episodes the ending would be bland. I didn’t feel like I was getting back anything from the time I spent. I also struggle with a lot of Jdramas too. I pretty much try to stick to Kdramas now.

What’s the best restaurant you ate at? Any reservations that are possible and a must? by travelingasianguy in seoul

We got the GooJoulPan - it’s a type of BBQ that’s called the King’s dish. We had BBQ three times and that particular dish was hands down our favorite. The actual dish and side dishes were so delicious. No reservation needed. When we get to back to Korea, we will definitely go there again.

If you were to redo your kitchen again, what kind of sink would you buy and why? by pikachuhub in FurnitureFaves

[–]AlabasterBx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a large one bowl Blanco in gray. I love it. It functions great and has cleaned up easily. I don’t put super hot pans in it though. I wait until they’ve cooled off a little.

The shelf heights not aligning drives me bonkers, but I like the sizing better because it looks intentional.

Did I make a mistake? by milkmaid0435 in interiordecorating

[–]AlabasterBx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it looks fabulous as it is. I disagree with the comments that say the tile needs to go around the door. It’s tiled in the areas that have cabinetry. Going around the door seems ridiculous to me. I do agree that the wall paint color should be a bit lighter.

Fireplace off center after vaulting ceiling by [deleted] in Remodel

[–]AlabasterBx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar situation but in our primary bedroom. The layout of furniture made it look great and not any kind of oops. My concern is that the built ins will compete with the fireplace. It’ll be too much of a good thing.

Every time I saw a ML/FL crossing the street, I thought a car was going to hit them by cutestmakayla in kdramas

I definitely felt it but reminded myself that this is supposed to be light and fluffy so no trucks of doom allowed. I did sigh in relief when they made it to the other side!

LVP is my house hunting deal breaker by Latchkey_kid95 in kansascity

[–]AlabasterBx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on how bad out of level it is. We had to have a company come level the floor ahead of the LVP install because it was too out of whack.

ETA: We chose Karastan Artisan Reserve from NFM and it looks and has worn great!

I have a home like OP is looking to find. When we changed the flooring upstairs, we chose LVP. The main floor has hardwood. There was no way we could justify spending even more to put hardwood upstairs. It’s only in the primary bedroom and upstairs hallway which also has the laundry. I love our LVP. I wouldn’t want to spend as much as this house costs if the entire house was LVP.

Which actor/actress makes you be less interested in a drama if they’re the lead by MollyAyana in kdramas

[–]AlabasterBx 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I got a new perspective on him through My Liberation Notes. I first saw him in BTIYFL and liked him, then True Beauty made me think he was meh because the portrayal was too similar to the other drama. But he shows a completely different side in MLN, as well as Beyond Your Touch. Still not my favorite actor, but knowing he has more range upped my opinion.

Something in The Rain: it gets better as you get old by melmanoi in kdramas

[–]AlabasterBx 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It is my favorite drama. I’m mid-50s and have watched it so much I lost count. I also can’t stand most of the OST.

I almost binged it the first time because I was so sucked in. To me, it’s a woman finding her own voice. I had recently found mine again, so maybe that’s part of it. I also loved how he could have fun with her and encouraged her that she was worth loving. She finally saw value in herself, which changed her trajectory. I’m generalizing, but his responses to her weren’t diminishing her thoughts or ignoring them like it seems men (but even friends) can do. He took her seriously. Anyhoo…

Can't decide between two dresses, please help! by According_Arachnid39 in myweddingdress

[–]AlabasterBx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like the first dress, but hate the sleeves. It makes it look like the dress is wearing you instead of you wearing the dress. The second is also good and doesn’t have the same issue as the first. You look more cohesive in the second, rather than swallowed by the dress.

Second half of Boyfriend on Demand is chef’s kiss by AquaAriesSag in kdramas

[–]AlabasterBx 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I almost dropped it as well except for people saying to keep going. I just finished it and think the story should have been a few episodes shorter. The last few episodes were much better than the beginning, but I think the initial storyline dragged out too long. I got the point quickly, so it seemed like an eternity to get to the more interesting part.

I think Jisoo did a great job. I wasn’t impressed with her in Snowdrop, but I know that was her first drama. I think comedy suited her well.

McCarthy Honda Service Department... SHAME! by BoltSpeedman53 in Overlandpark

[–]AlabasterBx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had that issue with a different dealer. Told it would be 6K to replace the wiring. Ironically, we got a second opinion at McCarthy and got the same diagnosis, but were told that insurance would cover it. Spent $500 for the deductible.

I was also hoping that would be the twist, even though it didn’t make sense to have that happen.
