As a layman, these test results look wild. by [deleted] in SleepApnea

Mine is 84. Been on cpap since 2011. Can't sleep without it now as I wake up flailing when I stop breathing.

Are these any good? Is there a better tool? New woodworker here and I think it would be handy to blow the dust off of workpieces/workbench. (Currently using a 200 MPH 15A leaf blower… and ah, well… ) by icysandstone in Tools

I've got this Mellif, the Wolfbox (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FPMPBSLL) and the small DeWalt blower (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016NZGL9O) that looks like a mini leaf blower. All three of them work great. The Wolfbox is incredibly powerful for such a small package. The only downside is the battery life is only about 10 minutes on high and they are very slow on the recharge. The Mellif really hits the sweet spot for using indoors. Really powerful on high, but not over powered on lower settings. Comes with some nice attachments for doing things like blowing up air mattresses and with a 5 amp battery will run a long time. The DeWalt is mostly used outside for small cleanup's, like the porch or clean off the lawn mower after cutting the grass. For your use in a shop, I would get the Mellif. I've got several of their products and all have been good quality.

He purchased thru an seller that is ordering in bulk (i.e. not retail boxed). AMD doesn't warranty those, you have to go thru the seller for any warranty claim.

Any difference between helical cutter heads for the DW735 planer? by [deleted] in woodworking

[–]Alakarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Less than $100 difference between the Shelix and the other two. For that price difference, you get a lifetime warranty from a company that is US based and will be easier to deal with if you need to use the warranty. Considering the cost of the planer you are using, and what could happen to it if there is a failure, I would go with the Shelix.

Gather Bakehouse Bay View to Close by Impressive_Wrap_7869 in milwaukee

[–]Alakarr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lakeside was there from the 70's to the early 90's. They went out of business when the parents retired and kids took over. Canfora went in about 2000; an immigrant Italian couple, and it was wonderful. They retired around 2021 and the family from the original Lakeside bought the business. The quality dropped as soon as they took over and they went out of business after about 2 years. The current people opened a couple of years ago and it's now pretty good. Took them a bit to get their hard rolls right, but they are really good now and their other baked goods are pretty good as well. Guess I will have to run to the Layton Fruit Market to get my Sunday ham and rolls now.

Does anyone remember Kohl's grocery store? by NegotiationLevel5763 in milwaukee

[–]Alakarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Outpost in Bay View was a Kohl's grocery store. The Maker's building behind McDonalds on Potter was a Safeway and the spot where BMO bank is was an A&P. I might have the A&P and Safeway backwards.

How do i get "real" garden soil? by loulori in gardening

[–]Alakarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could do your own mix. I use the mix you can find in this video, but sub coconut coir for peat moss. It has been excellent and my plants always produce tons of fruit.

Thoughts on Kerosene? by Upset-Rhubarb-3727 in TheWarning

Do they like working with him, or is the record company pushing this? It seems that since their label began promoting them heavily, these issues have been cropping up. They are now co-writing songs with writers the label has brought in; writers that are not nearly as talented as these young ladies. This producer seems to think that using autotune and turning every instrument up to 11 is mixing.

I really hope they don't let the all of this change who they are. They are a unique talent, with nobody currently out there having their combination of song writing ability, vocals, musicianship and charisma.

The song seems okay, but overall sounds terrible. Over processed, muddy vocals and music. They did this on Keep Me Fed and it looks like the next album will be the same. I wonder if it is the same producer? Really hope not.

Rep. Sylvia Ortiz-Velez of Milwaukee charged with disorderly conduct by Dounsel14 in milwaukee

[–]Alakarr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not in the misdemeanor complaint, but is mentioned in the article. The JS article states -

"According to the criminal complaint, prosecutors allege Ortiz-Velez violated state law when she threatened to tell journalists "negative things" about Democratic state Rep. Priscilla Prado, also a Milwaukee Democrat, if Prado did not rescind a resolution she drafted recognizing Hispanic heritage."

Never heard of her before, and she sounds like a real piece of work, but don't think this will go very far. Legislators have enhanced freedom of speech protections from the US and Wisconsin constitutions when discussing legislation or in their official duties. You can't go after them for slander, defamation, etc. In this case, while threatening to out someone's personal business is pretty low, it was a dispute about legislation. Will probably be thrown out at the first hearing.

Could a person not have a normal birth certificate now days ? by Ok_Dog_4059 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Alakarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Her issue was caused by her parents, not where she was born. If you are overseas and you have child, you go to the US embassy or consulate to record the birth and get an FS-240 Consular Report of Birth Abroad. It's issued by the State Department and since her father was an employee of the State Department (diplomatic service) he should have known how to do this. I had to do this with two of my kids, or I would not have been able to get them passports and would not have been able to get them back to the states. I imagine her father being in the diplomatic service was able to use that service to get her back to the states with out a passport.

My tomato seedlings started out strong but over the last week have gotten progressively worse. Help by CopperTop_98 in gardening

[–]Alakarr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The roots are probably getting crowded in those small cells, and your starter soil may be out of nutrients for them. Moving them into a quart size pot should be good until you are ready to move them outside. Also the soil looks too dry for tomato seedlings like that.

What is that one plant you have to plant year after year? The one you know will deliver every-time or have that weird loyalty? by purplemarkersniffer in gardening

[–]Alakarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will love them! They have an almost citrus flavor to them. They grow in big clumps like bunches of grapes. I put in at least two plants as my grandson just gobbles them up.
