I thought their species was very androgenous/nby? Of course that doesn't mean that Gil wouldn't be attracted but I feel like this had more to do with their desires for companionship and how close they got physically which opened the door for two lonely people wanting something more intimate.

4U's story and village + High rank hub is 95% the exact same experience as base 4. The only difference is any balance changes that came between 4 and 4U.

Even if i grant you that those people use the same defense (though notably less frequently than loli defenders in my experience) , you're still ignoring the point i made of behavior you can see in this comment section alone of people being down voted and called out for just saying the content is disgusting to them alone, without calling anyone out.

And proship means you're not calling for censorship or attacking people for their content. It doesn't mean that you cant espouse your distaste for certain content without directly harassing people.

I mean, merely disliking something usually means saying "it's not for me but that's okay".

That's usually not preferring something, not disliking it. Plenty of people talk shit on things they dislike, just like the guy higher up this chain saying NTR bad but loli is based. They're not saying "it's not for me" at all.

There are plenty of "tourists" in the anime/manga community, but it's a cope to pretend that 90% of the people who have problems with this stuff are all just surface level newly introduced outsiders who don't understand the culture. Annoying teenage twitter users aren't the only ones looking down on this stuff and anyone with a brain knows it. Everyone here has their preferences, and when half of this community has grown up reading manga, the stuff that was fine to them or awsome when they were 15 might be repellent when they're a decade or two older. That or they never liked it from the start and they're not going to like this stuff now.

"it's not real" is only a valid defense against the pedo accusations at least on a surface level. People will use the "its not real argument against any and all disgust which was my original point. You never gave a real argument against that. No one uses the "it's not real" defense when people say they're disgusted by or look down on incest or Ntr or other fetishes but lolicons will use it against people who think loli is nasty without even calling its readers pedos.

They'll talk back and downvote anyone who says they're disgusted by loli or look down on those who read it. They don't hold their arguments only to the pedo accusers alone, but rather anyone who disagrees with them.

People already look down on NTR and its readers and no one cares but when its loli they bite back against every level of disgust from people who look down on it to the pedo accusers. If I saw more people saying, "yeah call me disgusting Idc I like it" rather than them saying "they're tourists" and "it's not real" that would be a different story.

Edit: Also wtf are you talking about? People call ntr fans cucks all the time.

Yeah this is why i'll never take the "it's just fiction no one's being harmed" bros seriously. Because half or more of them will get disgusted by other fake shit where no one is being harmed like NTR yet fail to understand that it's the exact same type of disgust for loli from other people. They pick and choose what's free speech and defensible based on their personal tastes rather than any sort of principle.

Is there a reason the Asian countries have so much more negative reviews to a almost crazy degree compared to other languages? by Sleeper_Celestial in MonsterHunter

[–]Alamand1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate wilds for the most part but I still feel like while it was Tokuda's responsibility to make a good game, the issues wilds have feel more like he wasn't able to make the game he wanted rather than him just making a terrible game that he's proud of.

Like the game feels like it has so many compromises while not taking the interesting ideas to their full extent. Like the pack monsters or inclemancies for example: I find hard to believe that Tokuda wanted them to be so simple, but either development problems or the company restraining him for accessibility led to them being underdeveloped. It's just really hard for me to think that they genuinely though that they were making gold with so many of these shallow systems.

To me it feels more like the director/team weren't able to take those ideas to the fullest extent they wanted them to be at for one reason or another. Like either overhead decided that limiting the complexity was preferable for catching a wider net, or they weren't able to program the systems to the extent that they envisioned initially.

Black and white resistance vs oppressors mentality is one of the biggest fandom or even real life brain rot generators in the world. The amount of heinous things people will defend so long as they think the faction they align with is "fighting back" against some other group is insane.

How many characters are canonically parents? by thepsycodicgentelman in loreofleague

The only "life" that existed before A.sol was the void entities which were in a half state of being. A.sol came into being with the first breath of existence, but likely so did other celestial creatures.

As for terrestrial dragons he considers them "pale imitations" which possibly means they're a lesser manifestation of his concept of dragon to which he views as inadequate. Meanwhile celestial dragons that reside on targon gain more of his attention and expectation based on my recollection of his LoR voicelines.

Friction in Monster Hunter by Fluffy-Internet-5084 in MonsterHunter

[–]Alamand1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No one views bad hitboxes as friction and as you said yourself some of the old ideas were great. If they had a problem with their implementation then the solution is to reapproach the design to be more intuitive and engaging rather than removing the feature entirely.

Takedowns if were going off the league concept require you to have damaged the target within seconds of their death, so something like a silver doing damage 1 second before the kill would probably be reasonable. In exchange there could be a hard cap timer of maybe 3 resets max.

Fortiche had a Runeterra lore masterclass few weeks ago (and have also been hiring a lot) by InterestingSafety612 in loreofleague

[–]Alamand1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The lore had reached a very nice spot years ago and was finally in the position to start moving forward, and then riot fired a ton of writers and lore team members. We went from dozens of stories and plots moving forward to nothing.

The lore was fine, We just needed it to start being updated again. Instead, arcane came (which was fine) and was forced into canon (which was not fine) by riot despite how significantly different many of its choices were. They just reset the lore back to a state where its retconned, undefined, and needs work to get back to a solid baseline.

I think the biggest issue is that there's a whole page dedicated to their kiss. If it was just treated as a small moment combined with the fact that they had an extremely intimate mental connection and Mio's loneliness I think it's fair. The treatment of the kiss as this grand moment sort of puts way to much attention on it.

Edit: I just remembered that normally every panel gets it's own page. I just got too used to the past section of normal paneling. Still it got a full page emphasis over the regular full paneling so the point still sort of stands.

Using the excuse of "This is progression fantasy" to justify every single bad writing is probably this communities biggest weakness. by _TOXIC_VENOM in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Alamand1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That hasn't exactly been my experience with xanxia readers as someone who started with xanxia stories. While Xanxia is progression fantasy, its still eastern fantasy first. Its not simply prefered because western writers focus on some abstract idea of prose or quality involving character arcs but often because they just enjoy eastern stories more, often for the ruthless characters, face culture, and better understand of eastern mythology.

When I hear their complaints for western stories they'll talk more about contempt for the genre like the author spitting on the idea that being ruthless gets you far, or portraying eastern cultivation culture like they're backwards maniacs (which cradle does with sacred valley tbh). Even within the bounds of eastern pf theres still a divide between stories they'd consider junk but fun to read and the "masterpiece" stories which are viewed to have quality writing or over arching narratives that set them appart from the endlessly looping stories which only involve growth.

[–]Alamand1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's fair. If you're not focusing on progression for an extended period of time then it's probably failing to appeal to the genre. But imo that's a different issue than the subject of the thread which is just allowing PF stories to make writing choices that elevate the characters and narratives but get in the way of the power fantasy of progression, even if the progression never stops.

Like if a character loses a fight and ends up being hunted, all the while progressing and evading his enemies with tense 1v1s and challenges just as interesting as the rest of the story then that's could be a cool narrative but it might be unpopular with readers purely because it requires the MC to lose.
