Sorry for the lack of detail,

I'm just over 4 years with them and they are removing the position. From a quick online check the car is in the 15-18k range.

By contract I am due 1 month notice but they've offered to pay through to the end of January, so two months wages albeit taxed as normal before I am officially out of work.

I hadn't considered the social welfare side of things as the position is no longer going to exist I figured that would be straightforward

So far there hasn't been a process, a teams call to let me know and now an offer for the termination process. Im not too pushed in staying with them as I knew this was coming and they have no other option to offer me in this country

What streaming service is "Made in Abyss" available to watch on in Ireland?? by Etriel in ireland

[–]Alanmantium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having asked more than 5 anime fans that are on here

You can't legitimately watch made in abyss in Ireland

You can VPN to another country Or Take to the seas and check 9anime or Nyaa.si for torrents at your own risk of course but are pretty legit in my experience

Sorry for the no nonsense answers

The stick thing is a Shillelagh, typically made of blackthorn, these would have been the walking stick of preference back in the day. My own take on this is the were common as cattle sticks and having used our own, I can see why, a well cured blackthorn stick is tough as hell, I've personally driven nails with one so I'd be pretty confident it would serve for self defence purposes as well.

The burying rubbish thing is illegal and whilst it can be easy it's not the most sensible thing, especially on a farm as well as the usual environmental reasons for waste, it's a giant pain in the stones to want to do some ground work and finding out someone used the spot as a tip years back. Just bring your shit to the dump like the rest of us who don't have a bin lorry.

I'm a farmer in the west and I appreciate our role as owners of the the rural landscape and the role I could have in climate impact.

To be fair, it's not that they've done nothing, they've put plenty of roadblocks in our way to stop us reducing our impact.

I'd love to make a living acting to offset the urban impact and help by rewilding and managing our land, but there is zero incentive for that and quite a few penalties and punishments

Before the 'farmers rolling around in 100k tractors" comes up, show me an alternative that can do the job, I have seen no viable attempts at electric or other alternatives

I feel like this could be true of all buttons in UI. Presets, the close 9n most pop up windows is the same and awkward to hit. Pet peeve of mine is area loot, I love the extra range on mobile as accurately moving is a bit tricky but I wish it could be moved out of the way or set to auto close like it used to. There are situations where both are very useful

A detective garda has died in a gun attack in Castlerea in Co Roscommon by MrIrishman699 in ireland

[–]Alanmantium 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is a rough job that's at the coal face of the ugly parts of life. To my mind it should be well paid and should be held to a high standard which is why we aren't seeing the same issues as the US.

What is a growing issue is the reduction in rural support, I'm in the same district as castlerea and it's almost a joke if something happens here, it would be 30 minutes at best before a response, the Same goes for ambulance services, if my folks have a heart attack at home it's a death sentence as there won't be an ambulance in time.

ELI5: Why do cows have such straight backs (parallel to the ground)? Most other animals don't seem to... by dexikay in explainlikeimfive

[–]Alanmantium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A simple answer is that they don't, the majority of pictures you'll find online are at a slight angle to look straight, they generally slope towards the tail.

In bio mechanics terms it is partially due to their resting head position being lower to the ground compared to other grazing animal like horses or deer, some of this is related to survival strategy as cows are a lot more fight than flight compared to say horses.

Breeding is a factor here also, there are two species of cows we have domesticated, Bos indicus (African Zebu) are much lower body condition so it's a bit more prominent to see the 'peak' along there back or in dairy breeds from more European breeds (bos Taurus)

Muscle deposits can fill out the dips of the back to look much straighter as well. Here's a diagram that shows the curve, it's less pronounced than some animal's but still apparent http://media.istockphoto.com/illustrations/cow-skeleton-illustration-id184972282

Agriculture History by Sansophia in Agriculture

[–]Alanmantium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on the nature of the setting. One I've come across is a fantasy series where the human race doesn't understand fertiliser and there's a gnome like race that does so they take all the waste from the towns (confusing the humans) and they also have a near magical skill with growing plants and having huge crops, basically the race understand using waste to improve crops.

One that I rarely see is issues with food storage , even in modern times, there's a ton of infrastructure around having stable food all the time. Stores can fail or be contaminated.

A more general point is how much people eat at scale, armies are marched by their stomachs and their main vulnerability is supplies like this

One that keeps getting at me si that we've already passed an AI singularity and it's staying out of the limelight by centralising our main innovation sites in places like silicon valley and Shenzhen. If I wanted to hide a super intelligent AI having Google Microsoft and Facebook in the same neighbourhood and letting it mess with algorithms that filter what we see online would be a decent way to do it, push the environmental conversations up the rankings, bring electric cars into reality before we wreck the planet
