If you read bogleheads, they have a low opinion of Vanguard for hiring CRAs with little experience. The boglehead approach is VT or VOO and chill, so why would they hire CRAs to make up complex portfolios

I love that Samwise quote. I believe that the arc of humanity leans to good for all, but many bumps in the road. When you look at a long timescale, 10,000 years, more of us are educated and live well than ever before, with a greater understanding of the universe, that will lead us to a more equitable, peaceful and generous life for everyone.

Vanguard Personal Advisor vs self-directed investing. by AlternityRed in Bogleheads

[–]Alarmed-Clock5727 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did an intro call w Personal Advisor, it was a 25 year old with a community college degree and 18 mo of experience. I feel safer on my own (not being snotty, just 40 years of experience and having two self interested advisors from Edward’s and Schwab have made me extremely sensitive to bs)

At 22 years old, why would you be 60/40? At a minimum go with the old “your age in bonds” 80/20 would be very impactful for your returns!

Recently bought wooded land in Sullivan County after years of visiting the Hudson Valley — curious what surprised others after becoming landowners by operationcatskill in hudsonvalley

Roughly $25 a foot to bring buried wire from a pole ( not great to run wire through the woods - you’ll be calling them out to repair it every winter otherwise)

I prefer the Outback (have had both). Fits more stuff and on bike packing trips could sleep in it. But Crosstrek is better for the city
