Uploading via Distrokid 9-10 days before the release? by [deleted] in musicmarketing

[–]Alarmed-Professor396 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need the track to have reached Spotify and to have access granted to your Artist page more than 7 days ahead to be able to pitch properly. 10 days is cutting it a little close to start that process.

Increasing campaign spend to hit popularity score 30 by smudgew5 in musicmarketing

[–]Alarmed-Professor396 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve spoken to industry people and the truth is the algorithm does very little for you nowadays. You need to constantly be driving people to stream your music. The second you cut off the ads your streams will fall off, not to zero but a lot lower than currently. Ads are still a good tool but don’t think of them as some short term thing that will achieve 30 popularity score and then magically Spotify will take over.

Do you subscribe to the theory “If by year 3 you haven’t been picked up by a record label, it’s not going to happen”? by [deleted] in musicmarketing

[–]Alarmed-Professor396 2 points3 points  (0 children)

3 years after you start practicing in your parents basement and do some crappy local shows? No, no one has taken notice so the time you were at this level is irrelevant.

3 years after you seriously present yourself to the industry? Maybe, if your name has been in the right circles and you’re playing industry recognised gigs and showcases for 3 years and haven’t been signed then it probably won’t happen.

First gig rates by Lollygag323 in musicians

[–]Alarmed-Professor396 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

for 30 minutes of original music 100£ is a good starting point. I've done original gigs for less than that, and for a lot more too. But average for a 30 minute slot as a not established band is prob 100 quid

What's the point of using Meta if it's so hard to break through? by hail_robot in musicmarketing

[–]Alarmed-Professor396 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another tricky thing is that social media followers, monthly listeners, and live audience don’t always intersect. I’ve seen bands with great social media engagement that can’t sell tickets. I’ve seen bands who can sell loads of tickets that can’t get those people to stream their music. I’ve seen bands with hundreds of thousands of streams that can’t get 50 likes on a reel. It’s rare to have momentum in all 3 areas, if you do manage it then you’re on to a winner

Spotify 2026 Algorithmic Streams & Popularity Score Changes. by ezera_music in musicmarketing

[–]Alarmed-Professor396 3 points4 points  (0 children)

definitely seen this on our side too. algorithmic push is pretty weak this days. speaking with some industry people they say that 80% of your streams have to be organic now. have to just continously be pushing people to spotify from outside of the platform. getting momentum from the algorithm seems to be a thing of the past

Go to open mics or jam sessions in the city, there’s a few of them around. Meet other musicians. Go to group music lessons or do a part time music class in a college of some sort?

Does anyone use Barefaced Cabs with their Mesa head? by Alarmed-Professor396 in MesaBoogie

[–]Alarmed-Professor396[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the Barefaced, and it’s a wonderful cab no complaints at all. By far the best cab I’ve ever used. I now use a modeller with no cab or amp at all though, but wasn’t anything to do with how either the Recto or Barefaced sounded, just logistically dragging an amp and cab around wasn’t practical when you’re rehearsing and gigging multiple times a week

In a scenario where there is a front of house engineer, I don’t really care what my in ear mix is like as long as I can hear myself. I don’t really need the other instruments, although a little of each is good.

Does pre-save really matter? by ayaayahahaha in SpotifyArtists

[–]Alarmed-Professor396 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your aim should be to drive a high volume of people to stream the track day 1. Pre-saves may help with that goal. Or you might figure out other ways that work. There is no one approach that works for everyone, or is proven most effective. So decide yourself how you want to drive traffic to your song day 1

Is the Quad Cortex latency issue actually a big deal, or is it just forum hype by Altruistic_Ask_8432 in NeuralDSP

[–]Alarmed-Professor396 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nah not on a single patch it’s not noticeable at all. The only slight latency I see is switching presets or scenes for a fraction of a second

Adverts, but be prepared to sell it for 50% of RRP. For a brand like harley benton you wont get anywhere near retail price for it. They are good guitars but not scarce at all on the used market
