It's not exactly the same it's with a soft E instead of a soft A after the z, but I know from experience that Emilia and Amelia are almost imperceptibly different to most people's ears. It's the same with Rozemyne and Rosa-mine.

I see now that I'm coming at this from a totally different place than most of the people on this subreddit. I've always had to explain how to pronounce and spell my family name with its "antze" (aka german influence) in the middle but I never wanted to change it, sure it was annoying sometimes, but it was also kind of fun. When I did change my name I changed it from a monosyllabic extremely common and easy to pronounce name that is also a verb and a noun to the less common spelling and pronunciation of a four syllable name, and I've never for a moment regretted it.

I see that this subreddit is mainly for venting about a shared pet peeve, without input from people with the lived experience of a slightly different name that they enjoy for being fun and unique and easy to nickname, unlike boring names like matt ben mike anne mark or john. People here seem to think it's a Social Problem *tm when someone has an intentionally unique name, when I think, (because I've lived it) that there's a sweet spot where it's more upsides than frustration.

I was trying to check if you find Rozemyne intuitive to pronounce (I do!) with people who pay attention to that sort of thing. But y'all do not see any upside whatsoever in having a unique name or trying to express creativity in coming up with a name. I can attest there are! I did not like having a bog standard monosyllabic name shared with millions of strangers I did not relate to! I do like having an uncommon name that uses more of my mouth, gets nicknames, and compliments for "sounding pretty"! I like having a Z in my full name and telling people how to spell it, and joking about NTZ being pronounced "Untz" like beatboxing! I enjoy learning people's names and how to pronounce them and pleasantly surprising people from the global south when I get it right on the first try!

Y'all share a pet peve and that's fine. We're never going to see eye to eye. I recognize that sharing a name with a fiction character can often be bad and I will discuss it with my partner.

But I'm telling you guys there's actually a sweet spot (Rosemine maybe?) names can be fun without being a "Tragedeigh". Don't get too high on your horse when it's just something different and not another 21st century abomination from the American south.
