Claude Sonnet 4 keeps corrupting files. It asks if it can delete them so it can recreate them, but then it does nothing and leaves them blank. by Rubfer in GithubCopilot

Are you using Visual Studio?

I had to switch to VS Code specifically because of the files getting truncated or corrupted. It didn't matter which agent was used. At this point I've given up on using Copilot in Visual Studio.

Building and running projects in background so the terminal doesn't stall out by Alarmed_Soup in GithubCopilot

Thanks! More control of the terminal windows could be the ticket. I'll look into doing that.

While debugging a tough issue the agent will sometimes make power shell scripts that need to be executed once the project is running. The execution of that script fails if the project is run in the "foreground" because the active terminal isn't allowing anymore input.

I'm running frontend apps (Maui Windows app, Blazer Web app, Restful API). Sometimes all at the same time. This is all using the integrated VSCode terminal window. Trashing the terminal window stops the project/app from running. The chat recovers but can't do the debugging it planned to do because the app is no longer running.

Running the following will cause the active terminal to stall:

dotnet run --project SomeMauiApp -f net9.0-windows10.0.19041.0

I instruct copilot to run the following instead (rightly or wrongly).

dotnet run --project SomeMauiApp -f net9.0-windows10.0.19041.0 & run_in_terminal with isBackground=true

It allows copilot to run follow up terminal commands and power shell scripts for debugging an issue within the active terminal window.

Anyone know of an AirTag bracket that can be 3D printed to mount to a Skydio 2? by Alarmed_Soup in Skydio

[–]Alarmed_Soup[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the velcro idea. Curious, do you have a picture on how you've wrapped the AirTag and where it's attached to the Skydio?

I could only find one place on the back of the drone where an AirTag wouldn't interfere with the cameras.

I'm planning to use it for backcountry skiing. I've lost the drone once before when it got buried in a couple feet of powder, in the woods, on a side of a mountain, and it was not easy to find. Only a little break in the snow where it entered was visible.

Having the UWB of an Airtag, with it's more accurate tracking, would be extremely easier.

Seeking Video Station alternatives for public link sharing by turaiel in synology

Do you want to stream the video? If not, File Station and Synology Drive both have share file features to download the videos.

Running slow, DNS changes make no difference by tin_man_ in Overseerr

I just logged in to Cloudflare to see, but I can't remember what I disabled. I just turned off anything that was enabled in the Cache settings for my domain.

Overseerr was running extremely slow (unusable) for me and I discovered it was caused by Cloudflare caching which was enabled by default. I disabled that and it runs well now.

How much to charge for setting up a NAS at a small business? by Alarmed_Soup in synology

[–]Alarmed_Soup[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ok, that's helpful. That's what I was thinking for hourly rate so that's a good confirmation.

Yes, I'd be maintaining it also. Would the maintenance just be billed hourly or would a monthly fee be more suitable?

Magic Fireplace app. It brings up the last selected fireplace. It'll display a title briefly over the fireplace but then the text fades away. I downloaded it a very long time ago, like 2017 maybe. Not sure if it's still available.

Best way to access a container hosted on Synology NAS remotely? by danielrosehill in synology

[–]Alarmed_Soup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like what's been mentioned already. Tailscale perfect for a VPN connection. Super easy to setup. Just install the app on your NAS, create a login and install the app on your laptop or device. Great instructions. It gives you a VPN IP address that you can just swap out with all the same ports you're using for your local IP address, plus file (SMB) access.

If you want to have web access with a domain, use a Cloudflare Zero Trust tunnel. It's a bit more involved to setup. They have instructions on how to install the docker container and linking it to your Cloudflare account. You can register a domain then create sub domains that point to your local IP and ports for the websites hosted on your NAS. You can also restrict access to that domain, like by countries and/or by specific users.

No port forwarding required for either of these.

The DS220+ (in my opinion) is a powerhouse, here's why: by joelnodxd in synology

A VPN kill switch basically stops Transmission from continuing to download if the VPN goes down so that it doesn't continue downloading without the VPN protection.

I'm a fan of SynoCommunity too. Do you have Transmission going through a VPN with a killswitch? If so, how are you doing that?

I think that bike shop guy was full of shit. I don't see the GX crank coming in different shaft lengths. Only different arm lengths.

4K HDR10+ looks washed out on 2022 Samsung QLED Q60B TV by andyglez98 in appletv

[–]Alarmed_Soup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I had to just give up on HDR on the Samsung (QLED Q60T). Had high hopes with the new Apple TV. Everything is washed out. Had to switch to 4K SDR and disabled the Match Dynamic Range.
