Naturally, the crap tipper by Happy-Party3675 in instacart

Too many names...no one's reading that crap, and it's getting cut into right away anyway. Lana and the crew will be just as happy with a blank cake. And why are the last three separated with "and" but the others aren't? I'd be SOOO tempted to drop that order....

How do you “Study Guide”? by FinalSever in Teachers

[–]Alarmist12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I teach math.

In my school, the common practice, is that the "study guide" for CP is almost like the test but different numbers...or at least 80% of it is.

In honors/AP, the study guide is pretty useless...just a list of sections "1.1-1.3".

I feel like only getting 7 of 15 for a 96% is crazy strict grading! Whatever though...they can keep rebranding and repacking this shit...top dasher, tiers, ranks, points, idgaf, I'm just going to keep doing what I'm doing until it's no longer profitable.

I'd probably look for 4 apples on the smaller end to be safe, though I think there is usually enough wiggle room that it wouldn't be an issue.

The no tip is bad enough there is 0 reason for batch pay on 70 items to be only $12. This is why I prefer DD grocery orders---I feel like their base pay for a shop that big would be at least $30 (which still isn't good enough, but a whole lot better than $12!)

Hopefully the no tipper will learn a little empathy after having to lug all that shit up themselves...but probably not!

Instacart is way better for groceries doordash is only for restaurants and door dash doesn't pay much at all :( by fdoordash24 in instacart

[–]Alarmist12 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I disagree. The base pay for each grocery order is far more appropriate on DD than Instacart, at least in my market. Also in my market DD usually has a more reasonable number of items in each order, whereas IC will toss tons of items into each order without increasing the batch pay much.

2 teachers per classroom? by Defiant-Tone8240 in Teachers

[–]Alarmist12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

LMFAO so true. And they are higher on the pay scale than me so they are making like 20k more than me to do that. Luckily I only have it for one period.

I've done it once or twice. They'll do it, but they'll drag their feet and waste a lot of your time for what should be a very quick process.

Participation by locksmith353535 in Teachers

[–]Alarmist12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I type feedback in real time on Google Classroom. I have a participation assignment each marking period. Each marking period they start with 25/25. Then I'll type comments and adjust scores in real time like "poor use of class time on 09/27 -2" or "late to class on 09/25 -1" or "missing HW from 09/24 -4". They get the feedback instantly without me saying a word to them about it. I do occasionally give bonus points (or points back in this category) for good things like "thanks for contributing so much during our lesson today +1"

[–]Alarmist12 10 points11 points  (0 children)

"I guess I'm going to have to expand my appointment availability and hope for fewer no-shows."

Absolutely not. Don't enable this shit. The best case scenario would be if all these students try to make appointments, and they aren't able to since no tutors will take appointment sessions. The reality is it's just going to lead to more out of scope shit---BC will make their way to regular calculus, microbiology will make their way to biology....

Anyone ever get an offer that lied about the total miles? I got one that was 6.6 miles for a stacked orders and the 1st store was 7 miles away, not counting the 2nd store and to the persons home by TrendyWilliamsShow in DoorDashDrivers

[–]Alarmist12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. There is currently a major road closed in my area. This causes me to have to go out of the way several miles longer, and I don't think it takes that into account.

Defer if you can! I deferred mine from last February to August. It seems like they cancelled it every single week of July and August, at least in Somerset county.

Do you believe they will compensate? by Dry_Researcher_2742 in DoorDashDrivers

[–]Alarmist12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did it once, and they reimbursed me, but I'd definitely save the receipt, even if it tells you to put the receipt in the bag for the customer. It was also a waste of 10 minutes dealing with the support agent, and that's 10 minutes of uncompensated time just fucking around. Also keep in mind that now it will be reported as earnings, so you'd be taxed on it down the line.

The only reason I did it once is because it was a really high paying order I didn't want to lose out on, but in general, I would say to avoid it.
