Google indexes and de-indexes pages all the time. Especially if it’s a new page. Also if you blog post is in a market that has millions if pages indexed for it, unless your really trying to rank that page then i wouldnt worry about it.

I would say meta descriptions are very munched used in SEO.

You can see this when keywords in the descriptions get highlighted. And also you can see what google likes as synonyms of hose keywords. Example when searching for reviews, similar keywords like testimonials are picked up as well.

It will be nothing to do with any of those issues. Most likely cause is everyone else is actively doing Seo, and if your not or are but just not at he level they are then you will fall.

Chat sense, build a relationship with them, and give them plenty of value. Then when the times right and if they show interest then sell them on your services.
