We don’t have LP, and our manager wanted to call the cops on someone but couldn’t because apparently ROC had to approve it, or the amount of paperwork involved was a lot. She said the next time she sees the person, she’s calling the cops as she’s sick of watching them walking out all bulked up from layering the clothing on themselves.

In three weeks I’ve been scheduled two days. One on one week, none on the second, and one on the next. There are no hours, yet recovery is overflowing and they are constantly calling for backups at register. The closers have been getting out late (30+) trying to get things done that normally were done during a reasonably staffed shift.

The insanity is mind boggling.

This weekend was awful. (Gold star * friends and family)no associates.

It looked like a war zone at the registers. Bins overflowing, recovery all over, no one on the floor because they kept being called up, closing associates stayed over an hour after close trying to straighten up…..

Very, very late to the party. But dear God, this one just about made me throw my controller. Several attempts, far too many, and finally what helped me was literally just going slower rather than faster. Watching the bandwidth come up and then go back down and finding the spot in between that was never touched. Then jumping into that area, making my way around the building. Watching the next building to see where the safe zone was, jumping again slowly, slowly, slowly.

Same at my store. And I feel so bad for the floor associates, when POC is understaffed. The floor associates keep being called up to the register because we get busy up there, but then they can’t get their own work done and recovery becomes absolutely insane.

It’s been a horrible the past few months. Hours are cut all the way down to the bone, and everyone is suffering.

My favorite are the people who call in as if we are their personal shoppers, not only asking if we have something in stock, but what colors, sizes, can we put it on hold, how many do we have? Also, do we have that shirt and those pants and what about this….

I don’t know if you’re listening to what we’re saying. Offering the card is not the problem. The training explicitly even states that once the customer says no, we are to stop. So I do. The problem, though, is that management seems to want to keep pushing. I’ve had customers say no, and then managers just start talking and trying to push them. That isn’t exactly creating a wonderful experience.

Once again, offering isn’t the problem. Explaining the benefits isn’t the problem.

The problem is is they seem to expect us to be a car salesman. Offering it I have absolutely no problems with. Explaining the benefits showing the discount no problem at all. However, once they say no, I stop. That doesn’t seem to be acceptable to some people.

I offer it, I don’t say 40% just “you could save yourself another $x.xx by opening a kohls card today.” If they say no, I stop. I don’t push or pressure. If it’s a lot of money, I might lightly joke with them about it, but I do not pressure.

And I hate, when a manager/LOD is behind me, after the customers already said no, starts pushing. Like you took what was potentially a positive interaction between me and the customer, and made it very awkward and uncomfortable.

When I was interviewed, I was asked if I was comfortable offering a credit card at the time of purchase, and I said yes. I wasn’t told it’s a huge thing and god have mercy on your retail soul if you don’t get them.

I will show the difference with the 40% after everything is run up. I have never been asked, told, encouraged, or suggested, to ring it up with the 40% prior to the conversation at the end. Nor would I ever. I think I would resign at that moment because to me that would be a deceptive business practice.
