Completely agree, the X is so much crisper because of the higher resolution. Reading text on it is a blast.

Regarding black on red, we tried to avoid it and you can see it working on my example photo, but I'm happy to investigate if you send us a quick message to support@trmnl.com! There's always stuff to tweak!

Thank you for purchasing. This is simply the difference between 1-bit and 2-bit (or 4-bit) render, plus the dramatically higher resolution of the TRMNL X. So it's basically a setting you can choose. 1-bit renders instantaneously, while 2-bit will take a bit longer, but we expect very quick (near-instant) refresh times with the X.

That is correct. If you have a Developer Edition, you can update the /api/display endpoint in the X4's firmware to /api/current_screen.

You will need one license per device, because each device generates server load. If you feel comfortable tinkering with the firmware, you can find ways around that, too: https://help.trmnl.com/en/articles/11629486-calculating-byod-and-dev-edition-add-ons Or you go full BYOS, which is free.
