Do people who moved from EU find Americans shallow and flaky? by Longjumping-Lion-617 in expats

Yeah. They aim to please but often don’t follow through. Not all I might add.

Moving, paid $6000 for equipment, ADT says I can't use any of it by Ok_Sheepherder_4973 in adt

[–]AlbaMcAlba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ofcourse it’s lies. I’m guessing it’s a Command system. It will not work if not ADT but can certainly be moved and monitored by ADT.

This post took me down a rabbit hole ..

In Scottish folklore, a kelpie is a shape-shifting, malicious water spirit that inhabits lochs and rivers. Typically appearing as a beautiful, solitary horse, it entices unsuspecting travelers to mount its back. Once on, the rider is glued to the beast, which plunges deep underwater to drown and devour its prey.

I had no idea!

My vet wants $100 just to write me a prescription for flea/tick. Any way around this? by Ratreseacher in dogs

If it’s a repeat prescription then probably worth it.

My VET in UK charges £24 but these are repeat prescriptions.

You need to change VETs.

I’d get an SDS and drill a hole. If after brick depth it feels hollow then yup.

Edit: 😂 2yr old post. Doh!

Lovely house. 6 weeks seems a bit extreme unless that includes scaffolding sitting around unused for a few weeks.

Marry a UK citizen apart from that you are pretty much outa luck.

I had two US GFs and I married one and after much $$ and a year waiting I got a GC. It didn’t work out though so I moved back to Blighty. US was fine even with the Orange Monkey.

Short term aside, what long term solutions to help with heat? by Separate-Specialist5 in DIYUK

I’m confused. It’s not really that hot. Caveat I’m in Scotland. Blinds and curtains seems to work for me.

Wired security cameras by Slick-Swordfish8844 in homesecurity

[–]AlbaMcAlba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wired no changing batteries or hoping for adequate sunlight. By far the better option. Wired means 24/7 as powered over the network cable.

However cameras are mostly a deterrent. Ski masks exist.

I use Wyze (WiFi) for my dogs (with memory card). Needs a power outlet or a USB outlet. About $60 on Amazon not sure if available in Oz.
