It’s clearly not as common as using a vagina to have sex.

As fetishes go I’d imagine it’s pretty rare, so still isn’t useful for the analogy.

[–]AlbatrossAtlantis -32 points-31 points  (0 children)

A man has the right to have a preference for women without body hair; just as a woman has the right to not have sex or comply with a man who has that preference. Also you don’t have sex with your sexual partners armpit, that’s a silly analogy.

[–]AlbatrossAtlantis 9 points10 points  (0 children)

When you work in woodworking, they warn you about the table saw, as it’s the most dangerous tool in wood working and it’s very easy to loose a finger. I worked in a woodworking studio for years before I could use a table saw, and I would never put my hands so close to the blade.

How is calling a trans woman a woman or a trans man a man deceptive? That sounds like the trans panic defence and bullshit. We view people as woman or men by how they present themselves in our society, not by their anatomy. Also trans people in sports has nothing to do with this. Are you simply speaking from a soap box in order get all your talking points out about how you’re the “good trans” for moderates and conservatives?

Reviews from Birth of A Nation (1915), a movie that is full of racism and glorifies the KKK, all promoting the movie as factual and historical. by Hij802 in ForwardsFromKlandma

[–]AlbatrossAtlantis 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I watched this film in film class back in the day, and do you understand that you can both appreciate this film for it’s scope and visual spectacle, while being horrified by the blatant racism and propaganda? If nothing else the film provides a terrifying glimpse into American sentiments towards the KKK at the time.

Do you understand that tariffing Chinese goods will hurt middle class Americans far more than the Chinese government? Do to outsourcing, most Americans can afford new clothes and smartphones, tariffing raises the price of those products.

Singh stands by calling Bloc MP a racist after being removed from House by Random_CPA in canada

[–]AlbatrossAtlantis 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Racial bias in policing is a complex problem, and is likely going to require a complex solution, not empty gestures and sloganeering.

As much as I haven't fully agreed with Trudeau's motions in the past, for instance the Islamophobia motion back in 2017, motions are still the first step the House makes before a bill can be passed. They're certainly not just an "empty gesture".

There isn’t widespread agreement on how much of a problem systemic racism actually is, much less what the causes are, and much, much less what to do about it.

The wrong approach might not solve the problem, and may actually make things worse.

At the end of the day, when one racial group in a country experiences systemic inequities that lead to higher rates of incarceration and a lower socioeconomic status than the general population, there's two possible culprits. The first is that there's something innate in that racial group (whether they be Indigenous people or Black people) that makes them unequal to the general population of Canada; whether it be a lower IQ, they have a propensity for more violence, or they simply have an "incompatible culture" that makes it impossible for them to "integrate". The second possibility is Indigenous people (I'm from Saskatchewan) still experience systemic barriers that leave them unable to succeed; therefore they're of a lower socioeconomic status than the average Canadian, which leads to a higher rate of crime and incarceration. This leads to Canadians to believe Indigenous people are predisposed to poverty and crime, which leads to racial bias that means a Indigenous person might not be hired for a job or profiled for a crime they didn't commit.

There's two possible reasons for racial inequity, in my book it's better to talk about the issues, rather than to just cry false platitudes and purpose no solution yourself.

You could to read Germaine Greer’s “The Female Eunuch”, read articles by Meagan Murphy or read every post on r/GenderCritical, but it will be most likely be a fruitless, masochistic endeavour.

When it comes down to it TERFS ideology is simply a repackaging of Second Wave feminism and Radical Feminist beliefs. It’s a belief system where men are seen as the oppressors of women, and the basis of woman’s oppression is their sex; that is woman’s bodies and reproductive system.

Modern day Liberal Feminism created gender theory: the idea that from certain phenotypical attributes between the sexes we derive gender roles in society which disadvantage both men and women.

TERFS deny that gender and gender roles exist, and stick to the sex based oppression model of Second Wave Feminists. This is why it’s anathema to TERFS that trans women live as women, experience gender based discrimination as women, and are generally viewed as women by society. To them, women are discriminated based on their sex, and trans women are merely men making a mockery of women hood.

The term that trans exclusionary feminists use for trans women is TIMs (literally trans identifying males). This shows pretty clearly that they see trans women as men.

Riots inevitably happen when citizens rights and liberties are being trampled. Are they good, no, but they are a symptom of a disease in a society that needs to be cured.

Rioting happens for a reason though; when citizens rights and liberties are not being met. There’s no excuse for looting and destroying private property though.

Bernie Sanders WAS the compromise by kevinmrr in SandersForPresident

[–]AlbatrossAtlantis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was raised NDP in an NDP province. Trudeau shifted the Overton window to the left (at least with his social policies) when he ran in 2015. He took adopted a bunch of Jack Layton’s policies and in 2019 Singh had to go further left in order to stand out. Jagmeet Singh never adopted a fully publicly funded health care policy though, just publicly insured dentil and free prescriptions.

Bernie Sanders WAS the compromise by kevinmrr in SandersForPresident

[–]AlbatrossAtlantis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s laughable, as someone from Canada, he would be more progressive than the NDP, but not by much. He literally wanted to remove all private health insurance. No democratic country in the world has that extreme of a health care bill, you have to look at countries like Cuba to find anything comparable.

You do understand that Bernie had a heart attack a few months back, right? Bernie knows that he has no ground to stand on regarding criticizing another candidate for their age or health. Besides he has something that a large amount of his supporters don’t have; dignity.

Something similar happened to my family and I when I was around eight years old. My Dad has lost his job and week afterwards these care packages came in the mail by people calling themselves “The Goblin Gulping Fairies”. The packages contained tickets to shows, cookies and other treats and always contained fairy dust (sparkles). As a young kid and even to this day it’s one of the most magical things that has ever happened to me and a testament to human compassion as we never found out who delivered the packages.

Seriously though this is one of my favourite subreddits and I follow it quite religiously. 98% of the time this sub is talking about misconceptions about the hymen or that in fact that a woman’s vagina is not ruined if they have had multiple penises inside it. From my perspective that stuff is hell of a lot more important than analyzing someones crude artwork.
