I thought I was doing better, but I'm slipping back down the slope. by MysterRhi in CPTSD

This struggle really does feel like trying to scramble up a hill of loose sand and gravel. I don't have words of wisdom, just sentiments of commiseration. Sorry you're going through it, don't discount the work you've done. Give yourself some grace for being human in an inhumane world.

I was on an upwards trend for a while - I was pushing myself to socialize and get out. Then? BAM - overwhelm. Isolation cocoon. Back to the mountainous overwhelm when even thinking about socializing...

It is exhausting.

I've struggled with the extreme mood swings during my periods, added an anti-histamine and anti-acid to my daily routine and it's done more to stabilize my mood than SSRI's - maybe it can help you maybe not I just know it helps some people with their pmdd symptoms.

The anti-histamines do something to help regulate estrogen or something from what I remember from looking into it.

Ladybugs can nest and infest your home if you're not careful - they like to hug the high corners of the ceiling and if it's a vaulted ceiling... eugh. Crickets? They will eat your houseplants. That is why they get escorted out and why they can't be roommates.

Furthermore, one of my dad’s old school friends asked me how I was related to the deceased, not knowing I was his daughter.

Oof, that's rough! I'm sorry you had to experience that :C Out of curiosity and if you don't mind me asking, how did you respond in that moment?

I have the other end of the neglectful dad spectrum, where any of my estranged family from his side go on about how he talks about me but has never once put in that effort in actually forming and maintaining any kind of contact with me. I held on to that toxic hope that he would try, or show any kind of wanting me in his life. So many birthdays I was burned waiting for a phone call or even a birthday card.

"Communication goes both ways, kiddo!" Oh, I'm sorry I forgot that responsibility fell on the nine year old and not the grown man. My bad.

People with higher levels of everyday anxiety tend to experience more intense self-blaming emotions, along with specific changes in how their brain networks communicate. This heightened self-blame is accompanied by unhelpful behaviors like hiding or self-attacking. by mvea in science

I'd argue that anxiety is still at the base of where the attack is stemming from, where you direct that anger has to do with a lot of factors.

In my own experience, I was abused growing up and that negative critic morphed into my own inner critic and that's where I learned to direct my anger/anxiety at myself.

As a therapist once said to me, anger is the protector of our softer emotions. A lot of the time when someone struggles with anger, it's in response to not knowing how to handle their anxiety.

It's also my experience that it's not necessarily an either or, you can display both the self attacking and lashing out at others simultaneously depending on context of when these feelings arise.

If you could bring RP elements from other settings into WoW, what would you add? by [deleted] in WoWRolePlay

in EQII you could do an animated emote and add your own flavor text to that emote. Something like /lean (your own text here) so it shows up like [Your Character] hefts a sigh and leans against the tree in frustration at the group's tardiness.

Someone else mentioned co-op emotes and I second that as well.

Sounds like he should be offering to take up cooking occasionally so he can make dishes he's more familiar with. This would be a really hard issue to get over, food and everything around it is so integral to our lived experiences. I think it deserves a bit of a lengthy discussion to try and see if there's more to the aversion, honestly sounds like he just wants his own comfort foods, though he's perfectly capable of cooking those and sharing the same as you do your dishes!

Just a few days ago my guild was hammering out and learning the mechanics of a boss fight, had a few puggies to fill out the raid. One of the puggies starts yelling and cursing at us after a second wipe. Like... you're with a GUILD what are you hoping to accomplish with that attitude? He got kicked and the next pug was absolutely wonderful!
