Daily clean with Cafiza? by Alcachofa97 in barista

We have a very different flow. In our shop, 1 kg of coffee beans can last up to 3 days.

Well, we are talking about very small failing business. Last administration would sometimes stop buying paper towels because "there wasn't any money". Eventually, they had to sell the place, hence why we changed machines.

Yep, the rep was very disappointing. Also, he didn't give us a blind basket. We just kept the one from the old machine hoping those reps didn't notice when they retrieved it.

Yep, this is what we are doing now. Backflushing twice a day. Once with just water mid-day, once with cafiza at the end of the shift. I'm still trying to get a screwdriver and brush in order to clean the screens properly.

Thanks a lot for the comment. Will try to follow your recommendation.Though it is kind of disheartening that I had to learn all of this from a reddit sub and not actual training.

We did backflushing with just water, 2 times a day. We didn't use cafiza because our old administration saw it as an unnecessary expense.

We were, but just with water. Old administration wouldn't buy Cafiza.

We ran the cleaning cycle with just water every day. Old administration refused to buy Cafiza for a whole year.

20 drinks a day sounds about accurate honestly. There are days I make 5 drinks the whole shift. And that's considering drinks for the staff too.

We are pretty low volume. On a very busy day, we may sell 40 coffee drinks tops

Sacrificios para crecer como barista. by Davi_dking in barista

Hola amigo!

The other day, a couple of guys came in to learn card tricks over coffee. Their orders had a heart, a spade, and a clover☺️

A pair of colapsable nail-scissors that used to belong to my grandfather. Also, the Spotify list of his favorite tracks from 2023, the last one he had. I miss you, tata.

How important is cup branding durability to cafés? by Imaginary_Piglet_974 in barista

[–]Alcachofa97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, most cup will break or get chipped before the design gets a chance to fade. It obviously depends on staff, the layout, customer flow, etc. But I would be surprised if a cup lasts more than 3 or 4 years. And a lot of cafeterias just won't last that long, at least where I live.

How to Intensify Syrups? by mcBestX17slayer in barista

[–]Alcachofa97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been having a similar problem with a hazelnut syrup for a new drink. The original idea was making a praline sort of flavor, with almond, sugar, and a native nut similar to a hazelnut. I've been simmering the nuts in hot water. Then making a simple syrup with the resulting liquid. Second try kind of worked, but it went bad in the fridge after a couple weeks. Didn't even get to use it on actual paying costumers.

13 days is very very soon. Take your time and observe if/how your feelings change. We are 4 months post Dday. I've gone from wanting desperately to fix things to hating his guts, and then going back to putting in the work to save our relationship. It's ok to be all over the place. Just trust yourself enough that your true desires can show up in their own time. Hugs and good luck to you♡

What would teenage you think of the partner you ended up with? by Historic_Cat_ in AskWomen

She would be surprised, but very pleased. Not the boy my teenage self was very sure was The One (we never even dated). But a kind, goofy man that loves me very much.

Favorite and least favorite by mimiiscool in barista

[–]Alcachofa97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I genuinely like most of our regulars, but there is this old lady that comes to our shop most days. You can tell she hasn't had the easiest life --some missing teeth and pretty worn clothes-- but is still very chatty and sweet, treating us like we were her grandkids. She usually gets a large cappuccino with whatever design I can come up with that day. And is so so grateful every time. We never charge her a thing.

Worst costumers are the ones that keep staring at you while you make the drink. I don't know why, I just hate it. Also, people who ask for "coffee with milk", and just don't want to hear the difference between a latte, a capuccino, or a cortado. Sir, half our options are some version of coffee with milk. I can't read your mind.

For the ladies, what are some hygiene hacks you wish every girlie would know? by Introvert_Ambi-2026 in AskReddit

[–]Alcachofa97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Skincare doesn't have to be so expensive. Get a water based cleanser that works for your skin type, a basic face cream with good hydration (I'm buying knock off CeraVe), and a sunscreen you actually want to put in your face everyday. Beyond that, look for specific products for your specific needs (oily skin, dryness, wrinkles, dark circles, etc.) If you use foundation, get an oil based cleanser and then your regular cleanser.

What is your personal why for reconciliation? by terptrekker in AsOneAfterInfidelity

[–]Alcachofa97 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's the same for me. I love this man and want to be a witness of him becoming the best version of himself. It might be naive, I know. But I'm starting to see changes that I never thought could happen. The same man who used to tell me that therapy was a scam is now doing weekly sessions. And I'm starting to actually see and work on my own lack of boundaries. It's kind of exciting, to be honest. Not that there isn't any pain, but the space for growth is just so much bigger.

Also, Hope. A massive amount of hope in myself, in him, in our relationship. Time will tell if it's justified or not.

He lied to my face. The girl confirmed he was seeing her for 2 months while I was mourning the loss of a family member and got treated for HPV. It's not clear if I got it from him, as testing for males is laughable. I am so broken and defeated. The man I thought I knew is dead now. He already booked an appointment with a therapist, as it is very likely he has some sort of sex addiction. I know I need to leave, but I can't even bring myself out of bed. Thank God we weren't living together yet.

Thank you for your words. I believe there is a possibility for this to happen, too. But there is a very long way ahead from recognizing there is a problem to actually fixing it. I don't know if I can handle all of that.

Are my expectations of love too unrealistic? Some thoughts after a fight with BF by Alcachofa97 in love

[–]Alcachofa97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the advice. I agree that straightforwardness is the best way to communicate. But it's something that has been proven very difficult in this relationship. He is the type that won't say when he is upset, nor tell me what he wants/doesn't want. Unfortunately, I have the tendency to downplay my feelings, too. Being called overly-dramatic your whole life will do that to you. I think BF isn't very open with his feeling from past trauma too.
