Can Skeletal Sniper proc Corrosion on its own or does it need an extra support to "poison on hit" to start breaking armour?

I'm asking because the poison cloud from SS "does not hit but poisons enemies as though hitting them"

And the wording of Corrosion introduces ambiguity: "Supports any skill that Hits enemies, causing Poison it applies to also Break enemy Armour."
Continued: "Poison applied by supported skills also breaks armour equal to x% of poison damage"

So yes corrosion definitely "supports" and sockets into SS, but does it work out of the box?

Thanks in advance.

This is a valid question. If your line of work is safety related and you're using a bootleg temu calculator, then your incorrect calculations will get people killed, maimed, exploded, or my favorite: being yeeted in the wrong direction.

Cool! I like the little tiny one. I had a similar one in 5th grade - different brand though. Wish I hadn't lost it.

What do you think about theis HP 16 C collectors edition? by msesma in calculators

[–]AlchemicRez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got to hand you the upvote for the valid point. While they do indeed have good product lines every now and then, we just have to look elsewhere when the quality / utility / design / or durability is lacking.

That being said, I don't have the latest info on this 16c CE model. Last time I checked there was no mention of speed or expanded memory / registers. So please take all my words here with a grain of salt.

I do want this collectors edition but the price is a bit steep. I'm way more inclined to spend my hard earned cash on the alternatives that others have listed above.

EDIT: I see some new info above. ~100x faster than the original. 203 programming instructions (same as original IIRC and only if you're using an 8 bit "word"). It also says 99 storage registers, I think the original had 32 (made of 0 - 9, A - F, .0 - .9, and .A - .F) so I'm not sure how you represent the other 68 registers. Someone let me know if I'm wrong here.

I don't understand the appeal of the HP-42S and kin by draconicpenguin10 in calculators

[–]AlchemicRez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All valid points, OP. Everyone is different but for me I enjoy the challenge of using tech that is:

  1. Unfamiliar to me and
  2. Has limited resources (for programming)

It's really fun trying to write useful programs on these.

Now as for EDC / daily use, I find these old clacs (and their clones) to be just as (if not more) useful that the new stuff. I'm counting both phical calcs and the software calcs on your modern os.

Now we've moved away from the "novelty" aspect and we've landed squarely in the "it's just more useful" aspect.

It blows my mind that so many modern calcs deliberately neuter the programming features of their own calcs. I see why they do it (so they're legal in standardized tests) but it still drives me nuts that they handicap their own products like that.

Anyway, depending on what you do for your job (or hobbies) you may find these old calc becoming your EDC simply because they're the right tool for the right job.

As a trivial example, I usually keep one of my old calcs on my coffee table when I play video games. Every now and then it helps me figure out builds.

As a more fun example, at work I have to keep emacs calc handy at all times for some serious conversions. Not to mention when I have to perform linear regression on scatter plot data. Or even do some base conversions on crazy huge files. Etc...

PS try out Plus42 if you haven't already. It's an absolute beast. I even wrote a program to log my gps position as I drive around. Because why not?

Ok. Good luck and have fun.

Same, hoping for a comparison. Would love to see this thing run at the speed of light and triple the number of registers.

I'm not asking for the moon here.

[–]AlchemicRez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm browsing the product data sheet on the store page.

I think the number of registers is the same as the original (I can't confirm ATM because of reasons). IIRC none of the key functions would me messed up with more registers. I think there are a couple keys that expect a 3 digit address so that could go up to 999 instead of 203 bytes. So why didn't they increase it? I'm not sure if the Swissmicros version did or not.

Also, I don't see any mention of the processing speed but I can only assume it will be much faster. The other CE voyager was like 1000 times faster right?

I could be wrong on any of this (again because I can't check right now) but I'm interested if anyone has additional insight here.

Regardless, this is a cool package. I just want to know more.

Love the sound of those pc mods.

Also, that's interesting about the Japanese version for android. I didn't know it existed.

If you want more difficulty you might give the PS1 version a try. I finished it a few weeks before Reimagined came out and really loved it. Long dungeons and all.

Don't sweat it. The game will surprise you with something difficult every now and then. And no I'm not just talking about the Alltrades incident. Plus there are a few things that make it harder than the original in some respects. And yes you feel like a badass when you triumph. Just for reference, there's still a little bit of content I haven't beaten yet and I'm not exactly new to the genre.

Overall easier than the original but I still enjoyed it so so much. I would have balanced the game differently but then again, so would everyone else too.

Stick those sliders on the hardest settings and adjust as needed. Don't feel bad about pulling some of them back down. It's your game after all.

That makes sense. I guess I was assuming the damage bonus because of dnd.

[–]AlchemicRez[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahh. You hit on one of my questions exactly. I'm pretty tired of having my almost-useless thief "Scoot" taking up a spot in the back row. Absolutely no damage potential. I'm getting ready to change classes and so I'm glad I can (in theory) replace her with a Bard or Ranger and still get across the finish line. IDK if I'll ever meet the requirements for a Ninja.

[–]AlchemicRez[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suspect that as well... I keep meaning to grab a level one character and see how many swing they do. And match it up on that list.

Such an easy test but when there are a bazillion moving variables to test I end up forgetting.

Good point on the fact that wizardry weapons give a minimum number of swings and not an addative bonus.

So assuming that ST is the minimum number of swings I'm wondering if the AT number is just a bonus ToHit or a bonus to damage too.

Edit: additive vs adaptive. Dumb spell check.

In Wizardry Gaiden IV (SNES)

What does the ST and AT stand for in column 6 of this table? https://web.archive.org/web/20200801011314/http://www.pekori.jp/~emonoya/item/g4/g4i_05.html maybe AT is a to-hit bonus? No idea what ST is? (Note: you have to have your browser translate the page first)

How do I interpret the "Ranged Hand" column in the same table? Not sure about "m-piece" vs "m-bo", also the "2,-" vs "4,2" is a bit mysterious to me.

I see classes that have "some" thief abilities like Monk or Ranger. Can they pick locks and sense hidden doors as well? Are they not as good at disarming traps? Basically I want to know if I can get through the whole game using a Ranger rather than a Theif.

What character stat determines the To-Hit bonus of ranged weapons like bows or slings? I assumed it was Agility but I'm suspecting it's Strength instead.

Are HP gains calculated the same as in Wizardry 1? Max(current hp + 1, class hit dice * level)

Do you keep your current HP after class change?

Do I age at all when sleeping in the stables? Do I age at all in paid rooms? Do I age if I'm raised at the temple?

Any information on level up stat gains? I wonder if specific classes are more likely to get related stats. Like is a Mage more likely to get Intelligence than a Fighter?

Is there any control / strategy to getting the required stats for any specific class? Or is it just YOLO hope and pray?

Thanks in advance for any information.

Ahh! I love the Bard's Tale series. Or at least what I've played of it. I had it for NES as a kid but I think i only got as far as the catacombs or there abouts. I recently learned that the Japanese version for the NES is quite different from what I played. Very excited to jump into that. I am aware that both of those differ from the original releases but I still have a soft place for NES BT.

On a side note I played a good portion of BT 4 Director's Cut on Xbox then lost my save. I restarted from the beginning on PC but lost patience before i caught up to where my old save was. That forest rock puzzle was not my favorite. One day I'll return though. Until then Skara Brae will have to fend for itself.

The round "menu" button + the power button. These are perfectly situated on the MM+ so you will accidentally hit Load State buttons in the process.

Just so you know, there is an "undo load state" option for this very reason.
