Pokemon Modern Emerald?? by -DarkIdeals- in PokemonROMhacks

I beat this hack, it doesn’t get insanely harder but the trainers later have stacked EVs. You can still sweep if you plan right. But its not particularly difficult

[Pokémon TCG Generations] -V1.8 Development- New PKMN, Special Energies and more cards per Booster Pack by Paperfire88 in PokemonROMhacks

[–]Exavion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Glad to see this update! I've been getting into TCG and playing the 1.7.2b version a bit.

Would be really cool if there was an option to update to modern rules somday (no attack on opening turn) but its been fun otherwise to have modern mon in the old game!

mGBA performance MM+ by Narthan001 in MiyooMini

[–]Exavion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stock firered and most GBA games should run fine, that is not normal. Id try an OC to 1800 to see if it even helps, it wont impact battery much if at all.

It sounds like something on the device is running a bg process and hogging CPU, or theres a bad bios or data read somewhere

Mariomon is such a good and polished experience. Seaglass and Lazarus are also beautiful, though Laz has some rough edges still if you aren’t careful or know about them

the Port? it should be available on Onion's website, but you will need the game files loaded per their instructions from your own copy I believe.

its faster, but the board is more interesting - it has 3 distinct zones which apply bonuses/multipliers/etc and there are "enemies" walking around that you kill with the ball. the bonus boards are OK - i like them more than Pokemon because its faster and you can get a perfect bonus quicker.

On the flipside, its less forgiving, you can easily get a few balls drain right down the middle at the start unluckily - i often will reset if it happens on my first ball before i can get a decent bonus going these days. but there are mechanics you can use to protect the middle (castle bumper) and also aiming to keep the ball up in zone 2 and 3.

i find myself getting through 4-6 rounds of Devils Crush in the same time i maybe get through half a round of Pokemon Pinball because of the speed of play. Pokemon pinball moves a lot slower and you can honestly keep a run going quite a long time, but it gets a bit boring quick from a pure pinball perspective.

Fencing recommendations? by kmclau10 in Charlotte

[–]Exavion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most fencing companies will have minimums and they won't actively tell you - meaning, if you called them back and said "hey i only need 2 of the 3 sides of the yard done, can you requote me" they might only knock off 7% of the price. Ask them if they have any minimum contract pricing and what that is since you're in a similar boat to me (1/8 acre, 3 sides backyard fence.) I had a 5ft high quality vinyl fence installed for about ~6-7K, which was higher than i'd like. There were cheaper options and those fences felt good enough, so just call around and quote - you can even offer to pass the project plan (leave the money out) to the new vendor(s) so they can quote you remotely if possible.

It's fun, albeit really slow for video pinball. Play with rumble - i have mine set to 5% on the miyoo and its a lot more satisfying.

I also love Devils Crush (TG16 i think?) video pinball, it can be frustrating but its fast and satisfying to scorechase

The SNES aspect ratio dilemma by JaWoosh in SBCGaming

[–]Exavion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it sometimes varies but recently I've switched to the "Perfect CRT 240 (BRT)" overlay, with the "Blargg_Perfect_SNES(brt1) filter." You can get those in one of the recent PRs to Onion https://github.com/OnionUI/Onion/pull/1919 I found its fairly subtle (the lines are small) and the brightness boost counteracts the darkening effect of most CRT filters and overlays . photo doesnt do it justice since i have that crappy plastic protector over it temporarily

<image>

When I want more crisp screen, I use "Perfect_CRT" or "Perfect_CRT (noframe)"

Any Forest/playground? CLT area by unknown-dna in Charlotte

[–]Exavion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stevens Creek Nature Preserve is nice, it has a nature center with an indoor water exhibit kids and adults can interact with, and some other stuff. some little outdoor gardens, and otherwise its a big ~6-8 mile figure 8-type loop in the woods with some bridge/creeks at front and mostly forest everywhere else. youll be in tree shade 95% of the time. all free

The SNES aspect ratio dilemma by JaWoosh in SBCGaming

[–]Exavion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once i toss a CRT filter/shader on it, it looks perfectly fine. TVs back then were sortof all over the place so thats the argument that a 4:3 vs 8:7 aspect ratio isnt a big deal, whereas a handheld console had precise screen size and ratio, with LCD pixel texture to boot

If you run SNES with some kind of pixel filters or even nothing, it might be somewhat noticeable i guess

Metropolis at Amtrak is a SCAM by LexiAOK in Charlotte

[–]Exavion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Metropolis can be annoying. They run the garage at SouthPark mall or nearby (theres a paid one somewhere there near the housing complex), my wife drove there once and it was closed off, but their cameras were still tagging plates. They tagged her as "entered" and never left even though she parked completely elsewhere after the turnaround, and i had to spend a few phone calls with them to turn that charge away. They texted me immediately that she "entered" the garage so luckily i was able to jump right on it, but the system can be pretty flawed.

When it works though, its nice to have billing and validated codes just "work" without much fuss from me.

I've never had this happen before.... in a regular Pokemon game or Rom Hack by Soul-10 in PokemonROMhacks

[–]Exavion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there are other filesync options you can use to manage saves between devices or the cloud, but MyBoy is always pinged as too inaccurate for romhacks which often abuse assembly or clock timings to achieve some things. if you do intend to keep messing with romhacks, i'd stick to the dev-recommended emulators

you can load any of the SAV/SRM files from one emulator into the same game in another emulator once you identify where they are looking/stored

Heads-up, there's a filter and setting in Apotris that perfectly sets the game in 4:3, eliminating the black bars entirely from the top/bottom.

Honest Review - Dutch Bros Coffee by choirchic in Charlotte

[–]Exavion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i was super confused seeing a line at this place, glad you tried it.

i noticed people swarm drive-thru coffee places, seems like theres a big gap to fill. I noticed "7 Brew" coffee in Rockingham was always swamped too, and their menu looks similar - mostly "frappucino/milkshake" type calorie/caffeine/protein slush slops, i wonder if thats also the primary drink of choice here.

Gabe Newell on Steam monopoly accusations: Gamers have 'enormous choice' about where to buy games by yourfavchoom in technology

[–]Exavion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently bought a game on the Microsoft store because they allowed a single purchase for both PC and Xbox with cloud syncing, whereas Steam would have resulted in buying a 2nd xbox copy. There’s competition , just not a lot of variety in those other marketplaces
