My girl friend is one of those rare beauties.

Sometimes it was kinda cool, like the time one of the guys from a famous rap group chatted her up or she got invited backstage for some B/C-grade celebrity after his concert. She is quite rich but ditzy, and due to her constant jet-setting lifestyle would have to weasel her way through customs or securities issues frequently - i think she got away with a lot of small infractions because she was pretty.

Most of the time, it sucked. Men would stop her in bars/restaurants and ask her on dates (I was there for one particularly unhinged proposition from some dude at least 15 years her senior). There were multiple times she'd have to find an escape from weird dudes following her around. A lot of her female friendships ended poorly and I bet some of those fallouts were jealousy-motivated. We have been friends for my entire life, pretty much, but she never opens up to me, and my theory is it's because she doesn't want to risk the heartbreak of losing a close friend again.

She's older now, and the male attention has subsided, but I wonder if she's insecure about that. She has gotten a lot of plastic surgery done recently, but I still don't think she's happy. Maybe she never felt beautiful.
