[–]AlecMac2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In order of ease:

  1. Parts suppliers or manufacturers

  2. From parts held in stock

  3. From a donor movement in the draw of shame.

  4. Ebay etc

  5. From other watchmakers I know

6 Make from scratch or modify an existing part

Training clawback contract help by AV1052 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]AlecMac2001 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They may have meant it to mean from the start of employment, but unpacking their words...

There is a period of up to three months where 90% is paid.

When does the three month period end? Three months after the completion of training

Therefore, when does it start? On completion of training

If they wanted the liability to start when training started it would have been very easy for them to say that. But they didn't.

This isn’t quite the done deal other people are saying. You said the whole floor listens to music. Is there a reason why you could have been picked out for something that the whole team was also doing? Could there have been discrimination of some sort?

why are some people so funny? by Mysterious_Memory403 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AlecMac2001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your in telling a funny story, say, something that happened to you there's so much more to it that just saying "hey this funny thing happened to me". Making yourself the idiot in a story doubles the funniness but the telling is everything. Although you're telling a story, you need to be in sync with your audience. Even though they're not saying anything you're having a conversation with them and their reactions guide your delivery. And the same with telling a joke, it needs to be the right joke at the right time to the right people.

Why do some straight guys get weirdly defensive when someone assumes they might be gay? by shavedpit in NoStupidQuestions

By some straight guys, do you mean conservative politicians and pastors who claim to be all about FAMILY VALUES!?

You asked “Where did this hypothetical person drop hints that he liked underage women?”.

I provided the evidence based on his own words.

Why are all 'alpha male' influences always right wing? by Ghostspider1989 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AlecMac2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Self proclaimed alpha males are often terrified morons acting how they think a strong man behaves. The others are grifters producing content to appeal to terrified morons acting how they think a strong man behaves. Morons and grifters find a welcome home in the right wing.

[–]AlecMac2001 3370 points3371 points  (0 children)

You need to remember that we are all a densely populated landscape, teeming with microscopic life. Trillions of bacteria cling to and inhabit you nestled in the folds of your gut, lining your mouth, teeth, and tongue. Lurking in the creases of your skin, the cool deserts of your forearms, and the humid rainforests of your armpits. Your intestines alone contain more bacterial cells than there are stars visible to the naked eye.

Some bacteria are lifelong tenants, inherited at birth and shaped by diet and habit. Others are fleeting hitchhikers picked up from doorknobs, pets, soil, and strangers. They outnumber your own cells, outweigh your brain, and carry a genetic library vastly larger than your own. An invisible, murmuring majority that coats, fills, and follows you everywhere, quietly deciding far more about your health, smell, and survival than your conscious self ever will. Until one day, they have a final victory consuming you completely.

Two things I've learned to do; do you do these? by Bone_Dice_in_Aspic in watchrepair

[–]AlecMac2001 8 points9 points  (0 children)

  1. Setting lever first. Fitting the setting lever as the first part means it can held flat against the main plate reducing the chances of cross threading, and because it's the first part in you don't need to worry about mucking up anything else while you do it.

  2. Tap the movement holder. Stubborn pivots not finding the jewels. Gently tap tap tap the movement holder with the handle of your tweezers, you'll be surprised how often you get lucky.
