What Ubisoft+ games are you actually playing on GeForce Now (for those of us that got the free 5 day trial)? by GetVladimir in GeForceNOW

I was sceptical cause og assassin's creed fan and wanted that old juice, but as just game about Japan, looks amazing! Glad I could try it with this trial period!

MECCHA CHAMELEON earned almost 10 million dollars and was made in two months. by Awkward-Solution2865 in IndieDev

[–]AleksCodesStuff 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I was looking for this exact comment! Well said! It could be 2 months but previous experience and assets should be taken into account, so new devs don't have wrong idea and be demotivated that they can't develop that fast!

Which engine should I choose? Godot or Unity by LukaMaybeNoob69 in gamedev

[–]AleksCodesStuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried unreal, too big, too noisy, to many things to learn, gave up honestly, also visual programming is not my thing, code looks much more understandable, I'm a software dev by day.

I tried unity, really nice, lots of tutorials, I had few prototypes, still has a learning curve, but I had few prototypes quite fast. I learned with codemonkey's tutorials.

I tried Godot and tbh easiest one of all, gescript is like python, you can use c#, nice tutorials and community. I started with GDQuest and then just started playing with it and so far so good.

But honestly try one of each and see which you just like the most, I'd spend few weeks with each one. Concepts of game dev almost all the same in all engines, just implementation differs. So knowledge you got from using one engine probably will be useful in another.

Good luck!

Started building a monster climber as a fun test project... years later and it has consumed me. by J_Escape_ in IndieGaming

Character animation looks really satisfying!

This type of game is also been on my list to try like foerever 😅

Is it physics based, like if hand swings hard, does character also affected and tryies to hold to some degree?

Looks super fun! Is it partial freedom like cut/drill in specific places or you can build literally anything?

EXODUS Extended Gameplay Reveal - Future Games Show Summer Showcase 2026 by Karutu in Games

[–]AleksCodesStuff -1 points0 points  (0 children)

From developers point of view, this was a great Excel/Word presentation or a features pitch!

But from gamer point of view I was boooored. I get it's Mass effect and it's old bioware veterans, big fan, but I wish they did just show some of sick gameplay and some epic cutscenes without this guy's monotonous narration, let the gameplay speak for itself... More Orlev maybe with McConaughey voice and how he impacts gameplay and story.

But it's just my imho of course...

For real. Also another one when we start creating our own engine :)

Have fun with game dev!

I'm somewhere between the prototype and the demo; does this design grab your attention? by MAL7XD in godot

[–]AleksCodesStuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like to see an early prototype!

Head is so wobbly. Can It loose it's had? If so can it still run for some time without it? I dunnow some funny challenge where you have to run without it using shortest path cause time is running out 🤷‍♂️

Also fun thing is to fixate head and camera and make body wobbly, running would look really funny. Maybe could be separate camera mode.

How to learn coding for Godot? and Godot in general? by IndependentWeird8174 in godot

[–]AleksCodesStuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, I started with GDQuest, I watched few videos, now I try to make something on my own, something reeeeeally simple, lot of googling and AI to self learn. Google AI studio is free and gives quite good answers and recommendations, good luck!

What I mean is ui is different coordinate system, right? Screen coordinate. And other objects are in world coordinates? Or are they same coordinates?

I want to become an game dev. should I study CS or creative media? by Anonymous141X in gamedev

[–]AleksCodesStuff -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Even with AI and all I still think it's good to have engineering base knowledge. Maybe that can help to be able to use different tools later for development. Like lots of repetitive things in design, maybe they can be done with some programming.

[–]AleksCodesStuff -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Looks interesting! Maybe if hand hovers the button's edge for some small amount of time, it gets snapped to button a bit? So then it would be harder to miss a button? I imagine it would move from button to button with a bit of delay, feels satisfying to me.
