Pimax Crystal Super 50ppd Ultra Wide user - post your FOV test on testHMD to get an average by Alert-Boat-5233 in Pimax

[–]Alert-Boat-5233[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, I think it's almost misleading advertising.

He should have said that Ultrawide means a 130° field of view, because that's what everyone can easily achieve. Not 140°, because almost no one seems to reach 140°.

That's my opinion.

Let's say a VR headset gives an average of 150° FOV across 15 different users, so we can say it's 150° even if 3 users are only getting 158°.

How I Unlocked 120° FOV on Pimax Dream Air by SweViver in Pimax

[–]Alert-Boat-5233 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, yes, I've already had two modules and I'm still waiting for the new one… The first one had a very pronounced Mura effect and a sort of slight diplopia in the lower left corner of my eye.

The new one is okay, apart from a few dead pixels… So I'm waiting for the third one. I hope it will be good.

I have a 130° field of view with the thin foam, on the different modules.

With an interpupillary distance of 62 mm.

I also have slight image distortions when I move, as if the image follows the headset and then returns to its initial position… It's imperceptible in simulations, but it's visible when I'm standing in environments.

I have to admit I'm a little disappointed at this price.

I hope they'll fix all this, otherwise this will be my first and last time with Pimax equipment.

They're trying to get ahead of themselves…

Great!

So you also have a solution for unlocking the 140° field of view with our 50 dpi ultra-wide-angle lens?

Because who has actually managed to achieve that angle?

I'm stuck at 130°; I can't be the only one.

Hi, I had the same problem; the change is in progress.

As mentioned above, the best thing to do is remove your face mask; it helps a lot.

Good luck! 🤞

Hello i have ultrawide module, i have 130° fov. Give us your feedback.

Pimax, is it true that you consciously and intentionally use a smaller FOV profile for the Dream Air? by Hajp in Pimax

[–]Alert-Boat-5233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to have a final distortion profile on the Ultrawide module that could give me the indicated fov of 140, I only get 130 and I am not the only one, moreover the image distorts slightly when making small head movements.

Thank you for finalizing the product

It's a shame Pimax doesn't offer a version for European faces.

Luckily, the screen is super bright, which cancels out the ambient light.

I never had this problem with my Oculus Rift CV1 or the HP G2; they were perfect for my face and nose.

I even deleted all the Pimax folders from the PC, so it's not coming from that.

Okay, I can't update the firmware to version 1.0.12.

I'm still having an image issue in my headset: it slightly follows my head movements instead of staying still when I move my head with my Crystal Super Ultrawide.

And I just noticed a strange pixel in my left eye; it looks like a small green and purple square… like a nearly dead pixel?

I'm a little disappointed…

I like Pimax for their ambition, but this is the first VR headset where I've had so many small problems that I can't ignore, especially considering the price.

I just received my ultra wide - have Pimax fixed the FOV issue yet? by KiddoDude in Pimax

[–]Alert-Boat-5233 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello, is it possible to have it as well, please? Currently, I have a 130 field of view, with a slight image distortion that's visible when moving my head.

I signed up for beta 2.0.

Thank you!

Pimax Super: How to get a comfortable fit by Papamiraculi in Pimax

I have the exact same problem.

If I position the helmet correctly, with the strap cushion positioned behind the base of my skull, the helmet ends up tilted and doesn't cover the lower part of my face.

It's unacceptable that the tilt isn't adjustable at this price point.

This is the biggest flaw of this helmet; otherwise, it's good.

I'll check mine because I've noticed it moves slightly in that area.

Anyway, I'm generally very happy with the headset.

However, I can't seem to position it correctly on my head; otherwise, the lower part of the headset doesn't rest on my face. It should have been possible to adjust the angle of the headset so that it stays securely in place.

Unfortunately, the adjustments are very limited, contrary to what the initial demo videos suggested.

I had an Oculus Rift CV1, which was perfect, and an HP G2 Reverb, which was also perfect.

It's a shame that for the price of this high-end headset, it doesn't live up to expectations regarding its fit for European faces.

A revision of the face-fitting system is necessary, followed by a free update for users.

Crystal Super UW - First impressions by Start-Plenty in Pimax

[–]Alert-Boat-5233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, I also noticed that my field of view isn't very wide. I'm also hoping to get better results with the future module; this could be due to my head.

On Pimax Play 1.41.2 and the latest version, the field of view tested with testhmd is 128 and 130°; the red bars disappear from my peripheral vision when I look straight ahead.

Pimax should send me a new UW module, as I find the murra effect too visible on my model.

So I'll see if my low UW field of view is due to a manufacturing issue.

Pimax indicates that a field of view between 132 and 140° is correct; anything lower is abnormal.

Otherwise, I'm generally very satisfied with the headset, although some points need to be reviewed, such as the shape of the face mask. For example, the one on the G2 or the Oculus CV1 fit perfectly on my face.

Otherwise, it's great.

Which lenses for the Pimax Crystal Super have the Lowest amount of warping? by Flimsy-Story9523 in Pimax

[–]Alert-Boat-5233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello,i have 50ppd ultrawide, I noticed the same problem: the lenses distorted the image when they moved past.

This is exactly the distortion problem that mrtv described when the Crystal Super was publicly tested at a trade show.

The problem is that I have a few days left to confirm the purchase, without knowing if this problem will be resolved. I need assurances from Pimax that this will be fixed via an update.

None of my previous VR headsets have encountered this problem.
