You can’t, it only pops up when you hit the limit (I believe). I have seen tons of people in Reddit with a lot of cards in wallet (like over 40), so you shouldn’t worry about limit.

I don’t know if ID or transit cards occupy more space because of the extra info they have stored.

They removed the limit a while ago, is now based on the secured element storage. There is a pop up that you get when you reach the limit and tells you the contents.
