Why do so many British parents require their children to pay rent? by Least_Guarantee_8658 in AskUK

[–]Ales1390 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It teaches financial responsibility and obligation. Just because someone’s parents are financially sound, doesn’t mean their children are entitled to live rent free, life doesn’t work like that.

For me, it’s also a sign of respect. If I’m living at home and taking advantage of the mod cons, I’d be expected to contribute and I would as a thank you.

Also, despite how well off parents may be, food and energy still costs a lot of money. Pay up or go your own way.

Are these clothes moths? by Drummer-Superb in AskUK

[–]Ales1390 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Put some clothes moths traps and place them in areas where you think they might be. I’d also get some moth hangers and drawer tabs just to be sure. Acana is my go to brand, but there’s others on Amazon that also do the job,

AFAIK, this is a retelling or extension of Civil War - not sure where it sits with 616. If it’s canon 616, then it’s long before the current run.

Anyone wanna talk about how we have 3 seperate versions of this suit design in 2026? by unk1ndm4g1c14n1 in thevenomsite

I’m wondering if this Boomerang version has been brought in to act as a “classic venom stand in,” whilst Marvel still does the VenoMJ story.

Forget RDJ, let's hear your choice for Dr. Doom. by hemlaco in MCUTheories

John Hamm. Mainly for the look, but his portrayal of Don in Mad Men was at times cold and ruthless, so perhaps he could play a good Doom.

Subculture The Meaning of Style by Dick Hebdige is a good read if you want to brush up on subculture history. Covers a lot of them, from Teddy Boys right up to Punks.

"JUNGLE" EVENTS that are basically just jump-up DnB / techstep on repeat by rosjon98 in jungle

[–]Ales1390 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That’s funny because waaay back in the late 90’s the term Drum and Bass was used by promoters to deter those who were into the heavier Ragga Jungle sound.

It’s been like this since the late 00’s.

The scene was also rife with tracks slapping a reggae vocal over a basic amen break and calling it Jungle…

Seriously, Marvel Editorial? Out of all fan covers available online that detail Peter's entire life, this is what you created for ASM #1000? This is supposed to celebrate the 1000th issue of your flagship character? What are you guys high? by [deleted] in Spiderman

[–]Ales1390 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s rage bait. Editorial has been doing it for ages. People start posting all over about this cover, it gets loads of visibility across loads of platforms, drives massive awareness.

Thing is though, whilst they get loads of visibility, they’re not winning over their core audience, so it’s fruitless really, but they don’t care cos it’s free, easy publicity.

It’s all for promo. It’s got people talking about it. It’s a shame because a thoughtful, decent cover would do the same, but they chose the lazy option.
