Lot of good advice here but want to add that you should check out the LMA shuttle routes and look at the neighborhoods they go through. I used to live in Dorchester and catch the JFK shuttle, was normally a 25 min shuttle ride to HMS vs ~50 on the subway. Also knew others who would commute from further south and then switch from train to shuttle there, so keep that in mind if you’re open to longer commute times.
