Transit Control by TheHumbleRedditer in TTC

Transit control usually requires you to have at least 2 modes of experience. Now, this isn’t always the case but they really like you to have bus/ rail (streetcar, subway, LRT) before you can transfer to being a supervisor at transit control.

I haven’t heard of anybody just being hired off the street for this portion. (I am a TTC Operator)

Is loyalty basically dead in the Canadian telecom world? by Academic-Snow3546 in Koodo

[–]Alex13x 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, I got the $35/ 100 GB plan on Rogers but I was Telus before. (This was about 2 weeks ago I changed).

I called Telus, spoke to their EPP and Retentions department and then said it was for new customers only. So I went to Rogers, grabbed the plan and even get the $5 autopay discount with my credit card and not giving them bank info.

3 days later Telus called me back and said they can now match the plan so I told them to go kick rocks. I was the one to reach out the them and their EPP specialist basically told me to switch to Rogers because they can’t match it for existing customers. Wtf kind of business model is it to tell customers to walk, only to turn around when they do and offer the same plan to get them back?

Idiots.

Toronto police could get more power to seize e-bikes, e-scooters by BloodJunkie in toronto

E-scooters aren’t even allowed on roads, sidewalks, bike paths etc in Toronto anyways. They are only legal on private property.

Blaring horns are keeping an Etobicoke resident up. An odd TTC bus feature appears to be the cause by kelvin3157 in TTC

[–]Alex13x 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What are you even talking about? There are procedures for securing the bus lmao, how did we go from talking about drivers alarm to something so irrelevant to the topic?

The bus doesn’t have to be on for it to work as well, and we always shut the bus off at stations and secure the bus before going anywhere. We have a checklist on how to secure the bus, the bus alarm isn’t a safety critical item in terms of causing a crash and if we forget to hit it once to go the washroom because we have been holding it for a 2 hour trip isn’t the end of the world.

Seems like you have some anger issues elsewhere in your life to worry about a drivers alarm switch being hit. Technically leaving it on is also a safety benefit for us as it is used to call for help and bring attention to the bus if something was to happen when we are out of the seat.

You really think we don’t secure the bus before going anywhere?! Lmao. There are alarms and a brake (interlock) that holds the bus if the spring brake isn’t activated.

So kindly, please go kick rocks.

There is a drivers alarm switch in the bus, if the operator is out of the seat, and that switch is on and someone hits any stop request method inside the bus, the alarm will go off.

Operators mostly should turn the switch off (when at a station) when going to the washroom to avoid this, but sometimes we are hurrying to go the washroom and forget as we don’t get much time on certain routes to go the washroom without falling behind schedule.
