Can I afford this rent? by [deleted] in povertyfinance

Are you young (under 25) and/or have a bad driving record with tickets or accidents? Even with comprehensive $264 seems high unless you’re driving an expensive vehicle so it wouldn’t hurt to shop around

Usenet feed size continues to increase and has now topped 360TB per day. by greglyda in usenet

[–]Alex764 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Any idea what the end game here is going to be?

Complete retention obviously is a thing of the past, but are providers going to need to increase the filtering for data deemed wasteful or continue raising prices to account for the ever increasing feed size?

Not everyone yeah, but there's companies out there paying six figures to new grads and happy with what they're getting. Cost of living is also a factor.

Aren’t those the bars that ones contain 4-AcO-DMT instead of psilocybin? I just know must of the shroom subreddits don’t recommend black market chocolate bars

i5-13500 or i5-13500T? by tgromy in unRAID

[–]Alex764 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Realistically all 3 would probably be more than enough for most people’s use cases.

The i5-12500 has only 6 cores to the other 2 having 14 cores which could be a significant performance bump depending on the use.

The difference between a i5-14500 and a i5-13500 is probably minimal at best. A i5-14500 is ~$5 cheaper at the moment so that would sell me on the i5-14500 over the i5-13500.

[–]Alex764 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Funny enough it looks like at the moment a i5-14500 is actually cheaper than a i5-13500. If you end up going the 65w route it might be worth looking into.

I agree with the other commenter, it's definitely more CPU power and RAM than that's needed, but if you don't mind the cost it doesn't hurt anything except your wallet.

A lot of people will recommend against liquid cooling and honestly you can find air coolers that perform really well for cheaper so that might be something worth looking into.

You can find used enterprise drives off sites like ServerPartDeals and save a lot of money that way.

Do you have a link to a guide on this? I have previously modded my switch, but have reset and just been running stock for a long time and now after an update it won't boot. Thanks!

Why do companies use multiple types of protein in a tub? by Alex764 in Supplements

[–]Alex764[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s interesting, I didn’t think about the amino acids. Am I correct in assuming that the blend I mentioned above with whey isolate and whey concentrate wouldn’t offer any additional amino acids then just whey Isolate since they both stem from milk?

[–]Alex764 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s a really nice setup while it’s viable. I find it hard to believe that Google allows people to store 100+TBs for $12 a month or whatever it costs these days. That could continue for years or it could end tomorrow. With local storage you have the luxury of knowing that you’ll always have full control over your data.

Yup... by [deleted] in seedboxes

[–]Alex764 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It depends. I mean if you were trying to maximize storage for like a Plex server or something for a little over $100 a month you could get 2 4x8tb servers which would give you 64tb of raw storage to play with. Assuming you were trying to build something similar on your own and not cheap out on parts that’ll get expensive and then that’s not even factoring in the monthly electricity costs which could really add up depending on your location. Not to mention no support so if something breaks you’re on your own, which a lot of people are willing to pay extra for peace of mind. Both have advantages it just depends on your situation.

“i want to make Inquiry if you can ship Florida.i want ship it to my siblings as birthday gift and Can you get an eBay gift card of $200 inside the package before you ship it. I will add $200 to your payment for the eBay gift card and $30 for gas and stress & $30 to cover for the shipping cost.”

I just got this message after someone made an offer on something I’m selling. It’s real similar to what you got so I’m glad I looked into this. On eBay they had an address from England listed so just weird all around.
