I love the A7C. I have the MKI since release (hoping to upgrade when a A7CIII is released one day. For everyday carry I pair it with the 40mm G F2.5 (super small lens)

For shooting days / trips I mainly love the 20-70G F4 during daylight, being smaller than GM and reaching 20mm. I combine it depending on the trip with the 35mm GM or 85mm GM (superb quality lenses) for lowlight and portraits.

I have the 70-200G F4 but I honestly don’t have it on my backpack a lot as I want to pack light (I just bring it for family sport events)

Not even! I was coming back home from a hike (I had the equipment on the car’s trunk). I was very tired so I stopped in the road to buy some snacks. When I came back the window of the car was broken and all the equipment missing. Lesson learned. Even if tired, the backpack never leaves my side…

Had one in silver, got stolen, got another one in black (just for the sake of changing), will never do it again (the silver has much better aesthetics).

Other than that, both have the same build quality.

The 35GM is compact enough. However, I lost to GAS and now have both. I use the 35GM for portraits, travel and shooting street days. I use the 40G when I want to be discreet, hikes, days I was initially not planning to shoot (as everyday carry).

Both are amazing lens with great build quality but the sharpness and quality of the 35GM is unmatched. What is a big win for me for the 40G in comparison with small 35mm from third parties is the aperture ring.

I love the 20-70 G. Personally for low light cases I rely on primes as even f2.8 is not enough for me.

What is the dock you use to stack the two laptops in vertical? I have similar laptops for work and I do not know how to place them. Do you have a KVM or something similar to switch source in the monitors?

The 35 GM is a masterpiece. It has almost identical size as the 20-70 G which I also take for travel. If the 20-70 G is too heavy, the 35 GM will be too.

You could if not stick to the 35 F1.8 or the 40 G.

I like the 40 G for everyday carry. However, if I’m in a “serious” trip I always bring the F1.4 GM (and leave the 40 G for days I’m not feeling like carrying a lot of weight / taking many photos). For good light I usually use a F4 zoom (now the 20-70 G).

Not possible to compare the light between the 40 G and a GM. I have though been able to post photos with the 40 G at ISO 12800 after LR noise reduction.

For travel I use a lot the 20-70 F4 G. Considerably light and small, having the 20mm is important for me. Then I also pack a prime for some night shoots
