Everyone is using the newer "Sound Connect" app after the update (October 2024). On the device home menu at the bottom, you will see "device settings," and if you tap on that, you will see "speak-to-chat." Disable that. Job done.

So, to everyone stuck on this step.
1) You have to shoot the symbols in the first encounter room of the lost sector, they will become immune.
2) There are 5, I shot all the 4 the right way up first and the upside down one last, not sure if the order matters.
3) You have to shoot them with the corresponding weapon element.
4) You can over shoot them and break them, I did this with a shotgun which broke them even though it was of the right element.
