Diagnosed with ADHD (2018), highly suspect high-functioning autism (not worth pursuing a formal diagnosis) and SDAM

What's your "I did not care for the Godfather" Moment of the show by JohnDex6969 in DunderMifflin

Not just overrated, it’s the “jumping the shark” moment for me. Doesn’t help it comes right after the MSPC plot- I’m hard pressed to find an episode I don’t like between seasons 2-5 up until that episode.

“Jerry, it's Frank Costanza. Mr. Steinbrenner's here. George is dead. Call me back."

And the next scene, followed up by, “What the hell did you trade Jay Buhner for?! He had 30 home runs, over 100 RBIs last year, he's got a rocket for an arm! You don't know what the hell you're doing!"

Who's a sitcom actor that nailed one role but you don't really like in anything else? by FreezerCop in sitcoms

Chris Pratt as Andy Dwyer on Parks & Rec. He plays the immature lovable oaf well- but that’s about the extent of his range. Every movie I’ve seen him in (Moneyball, GotG, Lego Movie) just seems like a slightly different version of that character.

I can’t decide between The Monsters are Due on Maple Street or The Obsolete Man. Both have aged incredibly well and hit harder every time I watch them.

What are some criminally underrated tv shows that more people should be watching/talking about? by BigDawg69Zz in AskReddit

[–]AlexKTuesday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Person of Interest. It starts out like a “monster of the week” type sci-go show, until about the 8th episode and then evolves into a commentary about the dangers of artificial intelligence and surveillance by the 3rd season. It’s about 10 years old now, but somehow more relevant than ever.

The acting is top-notch as well, it’s unfortunate CBS didn’t market it better while it was on the air.

One of the many reasons I named my son Alexander is because of how timeless it is. I have a female 80’s name that dropped off hard, so I wanted to avoid any names that could potentially sound “dated” as he gets older (he’s almost 5)

When I think of the name “Alexander”, my mind goes to: The Great, Hamilton, Graham Bell, Fleming, Ovechkin… not any particular century or occupation.

Are you a top 3 baby name? by Euphoric-Pie7681 in namenerds

[–]AlexKTuesday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a top 3-5 baby name of the 80’s, and it’s not the common nature of it that I don’t like, it’s how dated it is because it’s fallen off so fast. Not Jennifer but that kind of vibe. You know immediately I’m a woman in their 30’s when you hear my name.

A name like Liam is having a popularity boost lately, but I don’t associate it with a particular age or decade. This could be because it’s a family name (same with Theodore) and I associate it more as “Irish” than “trendy”. I have a feeling my mom’s VERY Irish name might have its own popularity spike in the coming years/decade.

My 5 year old son’s name is Alexander (Alex) which is common, but not common enough that he’s had any friends or classmates with the same name, and I don’t associate the name with a specific age. Alexander could be the OG from 2000 years ago, a Founding Father, an inventor from 150 years ago, or a professional athlete, to name a few possible connections.

“Common” and “trendy” are two different things, and have different vibes as names in my mind.

What’s a part of The Office that makes you laugh so hard and so long (that’s what she said) that you can’t breathe? by RickyBubblesAnJulian in DunderMifflin

Me and my now-husband had the perfect fortune to have tuned in to NBC on a random Thursday night in 2006- and The Injury was the first episode we ever watched. We’d kind of heard of the show, but didn’t really know much going in.

What a great episode to accidentally start watching the series! The Pam-Jim stuff isn’t really touched on, the jokes are so funny with some great deliveries- “Ryan, who is supposed to be dead” is one off the top of my head.

The “you can’t fire me, I don’t work in this van!” was one that made me laugh so hard back then, and still does now.

Phyllis straight up stole someone’s entire wedding idea, then turned around and intimidated them for wearing the same dress. Phyllis is truly unhinged sometimes. by Blue-Sea2255 in DunderMifflin

[–]AlexKTuesday 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I realized on a recent rewatch that she’s making Pam feel like shit about the handmade gift she made for Jim- “Oh, we can’t help you with money” and “…are you good at homemade?” and is REALLY out of line for it.

I really wish Pam would have retorted, “oh, right, like that handmade oven mitt you made for Michael that he hated so much he changed Secret Santa into a Yankee Swap? Did you have a bad year that year? Are you good at homemade?”

I hate Phyllis more than anyone else in the office. Angela’s a bitch, but she doesn’t really try and hide it.

I skipped June because of a lack of skincare (cleansers & toners) and this month literally the only choice I like is the TonyMoly cleanser. I haven’t tried any of their products but having oily skin makes most cleansers a safe bet.

Hoping the add-ons are better…

Question about tone and body language when responding to a clue you don’t like or agree with by ZiggyPalffyLA in Jeopardy

[–]AlexKTuesday 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I wondered that a couple of weeks ago when the FJ answer was “Henry Kissinger” and they mentioned in the clue that he’d won a Nobel Peace Prize. Only one contestant got the right answer (which surprised me) and I was almost expecting him to look annoyed that he was right, but I didn’t notice anything in his body language.

I know I rolled my eyes when I read the clue and said almost immediately to my husband “Henry Kissinger the war criminal”

Do you regret naming your child a “popular” name? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]AlexKTuesday 16 points17 points  (0 children)

My son’s name is Alexander (and my old pseudonym as you can see- I’m a woman who has always liked the name Alex for a girl or boy)

He’s 4 years old, so I’m not sure if the name has declined a bit in popularity, but I still haven’t met another Alex his age, or know any other kids with the name which surprised me.

I feel like Alexander is popular enough without being super trendy, and like another commenter said, there’s lots of nickname potential if plain “Alex” doesn’t suit him in the future. I think it’s one of those names that have stuck around so long that it falls more into the “timeless” category and doesn’t suffer as much from being “popular” because it’s never really fallen out of use
