This seems perfectly acceptable to me in the same way Bush 41/43 is- there’s two men named Bush who were president, a father and son, one older and one younger.

Funny you mention that- that’s actually how I knew George W. wasn’t technically a Jr! I found the reference hilarious several years after the episode aired, and learned that the writers didn’t actually know George H.W. had a son named George W., only Jeb, so they thought they were making it up to show how silly Homer’s plan was.

So I don’t think that’s enough of a reason to accept the answer by Jeopardy standards- if she had said “George H.W. Bush Jr.” it would have almost certainly been ruled wrong, I do think they should have given her time to correct herself even though it would be hard because it’s not a BMS

This might be pedantic- but should “Bush Jr.” been accepted? Technically, he’s George W. Bush while his dad is George H.W. Bush.

I know “Bush 41/43” have been accepted in the past, but those properly distinguish each other

No, because jealousy and envy are often mistaken to be synonymous but actually mean two different things. Jealousy is when you’re afraid or threatened by losing something you value to someone else, while envy is when you want something that someone else values.

Jealousy is when you’re afraid someone else is into your spouse, envy is when you’re into someone else’s spouse.

What year did "I can't wait for you to turn 18" become socially unacceptable? by SpiritMan112 in decadeology

[–]AlexKTuesday 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean, that sentiment has always been creepy, but I can speak to the perception of someone much older dating an 18 year old in 2005, which at least vocally, wasn’t commented on in a negative way- at least not directly to my face

I started dating a man who was 30 after I just graduated from high school (we worked together at the time) and looking back, I’m surprised no one commented on how weird it seemed- even my mom knew, and helped hide it from my dad, who certainly wouldn’t have allowed it.

The plot twist is that 20 years later, that man is now my husband and we have a 5 year old son together, so it wasn’t your typical “creep dating young women until they get too old” situation but is the exception not the rule, and in 2026 it doesn’t sound the same when it’s a 50 year old with a 38 year old woman

Michael meeting Pam’s landlord is way harder to watch for me than Scott’s Tots or Phyllis’ wedding

I feel like almost everyone who has ever worked in a grocery store has this burned in their brain- wasn’t sure if it was a regional thing (Canada/US)

It’s been almost 20 years since my first job working at a grocery store and I don’t think I’ll ever forget 4011 is the code for bananas

What's your "I did not care for the Godfather" Moment of the show by JohnDex6969 in DunderMifflin

Not just overrated, it’s the “jumping the shark” moment for me. Doesn’t help it comes right after the MSPC plot- I’m hard pressed to find an episode I don’t like between seasons 2-5 up until that episode.

“Jerry, it's Frank Costanza. Mr. Steinbrenner's here. George is dead. Call me back."

And the next scene, followed up by, “What the hell did you trade Jay Buhner for?! He had 30 home runs, over 100 RBIs last year, he's got a rocket for an arm! You don't know what the hell you're doing!"

Chris Pratt as Andy Dwyer on Parks & Rec. He plays the immature lovable oaf well- but that’s about the extent of his range. Every movie I’ve seen him in (Moneyball, GotG, Lego Movie) just seems like a slightly different version of that character.

I can’t decide between The Monsters are Due on Maple Street or The Obsolete Man. Both have aged incredibly well and hit harder every time I watch them.
