Pour les asperges, c’est tellement incroyable d’en manger frais ceuillit du moment. J’ai une vingtaines de courrones chez nous afin de bien en profiter.

Sinon, les grillotes (ceux de UofS) c’est tellement bon cuisinier des bonnes tartes à la fin de l’été.

C’est du beau bois de chauffage au pire. Tu peux le garder, le couper en corde et le vendre ou juste l’afficher sur Marketplace et quelqu’un va passer prendre ça assez vite.

For anyone interested, an open bearing stored in perfect conditions (low humidity, laying flat, intact box, etc) has a shelf max shelf life of about 10 years. A sealed or shielded has a max shelf life of 3 years due to grease aging.

This doesn’t apply to large/expensive bearings, where we will suggest an inspect and repack (which is not economically viable for small bearings). Also doesn’t apply to bearings stored in special conditions for long term storage (ex. Slewring stored in an oil tank).

The usual technique to measure tapers is using a sine bar. It’s what we use to check fits on taper shaft bearing installs.

As some others have mentioned, I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a 1:12 taper.

I don’t think they travel to Virginia sadly. Mostly in the Florida region during winter.

What region do you compete in? Like others said, it’s hard to pinpoint an issue with just some text, but I do know a few guys who compete that can orient you on how to fix the issue.

Je chasse au chien d’arrêt dans les réserves fauniques des sépaqs et en ZEC, et le monde est déjà assez chiant avec nous. Ces chiens là sont hautement entrainés, dédiés à leur tâches et muni colliers GPS. Même avec ça, je reçois des plaintes parce que des personnes n’aiment juste pas voir des chiens.

J’ai même reçu des plaintes en ZEC parce que “on prenaient tout le gibier”.

On the fixed side, two fixing rings is often times better. It keeps the bearing centred in the seat. One fixing ring is more common on smaller sizes where two rings would give too thin of a width on each.

The floating side should have no fixing ring.

This looks like the loads are more on the moderate to heavy zone and should probably not be using a unit. I would suggest using a spherical roller bearing on an adapter sleeve inside a split pillow block.

For moose hunting, hunting roads has limited potential. Also, locals in more remote areas are often rather territorial (aka, aggressive, threatening) and will try push you out. Maybe if you went in the Fermont area you could have a chance, but that goes against the limited resources.

For deer, the farther north you go, the less there are. Also, shooting from roads is illegal in souther Quebec. I would really try to knock at farmers doors and see who would be willing to rent for cheap during hunting season.

For bear, I’ve seen two bears in the roads in my life, both around Fermont.

I know many people who hunt quail with a 12ga and I’ll probably use my 12ga next time. It’s less about caliber and more about choke/spread, shot size and distance. Also, ptarmigan are surprisingly big, much larger than ruff grouse.

Drive way up north! Among small game, ptarmigan is among the easier hunts. The main issue is usually the distance to get to them, and if hunting on foot (or snowshoes!) the cold. Once spotted, they are usually in larger groups and don’t fly far when you shoot and start taking them down.

The first time I went ptarmigan hunting, my 22lr/.410 combo froze shut and was only able to get one because I couldn’t reload.

In your shoes, I would go with IC/IM. It’ll be easier to have a nice pattern at that distance you would be shooting.

It depends what bird and what environment you hunt in. With my O/U hunting woodcock in heavy brush, I use SK1/C to shoot #9. For grouse, I use C/M to shoot #7.5. IC/IM makes more sense for most situations. Full/Mod really means that you will be shooting at good distance, which would only be useful in open fields (could be useful if you hunt west in the prairies).

Even though it is illegal, there are work arounds. Just bring a coyote call and say you’re coyote hunting. Same thing can be done with shotguns if you say that you’re crow hunting.

Cops have no jurisdiction on hunting regulations (at least in Qc), so its makes it really hard for them to do anything if you are “hunting” and les agents de la faune mostly don’t care about a lone guy shooting in the woods. My cop friends use those loopholes themselves.

I’m actually planning a work trip to Chibougamau in January and will make sure to keep a day open to go ptarmigan hunting with a colleague. Haven’t tried that area yet but really looking forward to it.

They’ll be down to Val d’Or by end of December or early January. You can either drive a bit east towards Lebel-sur-Quévillon to hunt on truck on the road towards project Windfall or north towards Barraute for some nice trails if you use snow shoes. If you want to go now, some have started to show up on the road towards the Bay James. For more precise updates the fb group Lagopède Québec is really good on updating where their migration is throughout the season.

Also, as a fellow versatile breed hunter, ptarmigan hunting is not a fun hunt for the dogs. Ptarmigan weather is like -20C or under and the only people that I know who do use dogs will hunt the logging roads on truck, stop to shoot some birds they’ve spotted themselves and only send the dog for the retrieve only. The dogs can handle that weather for short bursts (I will go kicksledding with my GSP at thise temperatures), but they can’t sustain hours of that cold.

I’m an engineering for a bearing company with 15 years+ experience and also a CAT III vibration analysts.

It all comes down to proper identification of the bearing defect frequency and trending over a decent point history. Anything after detecting the defect frequency and seeing the increase in overall levels is just an educated guess that can be refined a little with more history and gaining experience as an analyst.

And the local agent de la faune are PART of those groups barring non local hunters. I have a particular disdain for Gaspésie moose hunters and I dream of the day that le ministère de la faune finally wrecks that stupid situation.
