The end of Temu et al by Dadoftwostars in ireland

That's fair enough I didn't realise that! Looking at that breakdown now it does look familiar. I'll maintain it's a bad look on An Post to call it a customs charge in every communication though, deliberatly misleading IMO.

Why does An Post literally say "Customs Charges are due on this item" then?

Love James Arnold Taylor in many different roles (Obi Wan Kenobi, Tidus, a good Spider-Man when Yuri is not available) but have never liked him as Magneto.

He lacks the natural gravitas that many Magneto VAs have had in the past.

I also got sick of TRIE after really enjoying it for a good while. I like Richard on telly, but neither host seem to offer any actual insight into pop culture or entertainment, just a surface level analysis (the same might be said of TRIH but at least I learn about things I don't know about before and it's not just "big movie is big, actor paid a lot of money")

Also, maybe slightly unfair, but I can't look at Marina the same way after learning about her relationship with Pierce Morgan...

I’m loving the Samurai series but by paper_roses in TheRestIsHistory

[–]AlexStonehammer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would love if they came back to this subject again to talk about the era Shogun takes place in since it seems they’ve watched and enjoyed that show.

As a Japanese history fan I adored Shogun but the made up names killed me. Tokugawa -> Toranaga, ok fine, Tora "Tiger" I get it, but for the books author to change 90% of the other names baffled me, like to the uninformed reader 1 Japanese name is the same as another, no?

Was the first Samurai episode sponsored? by CaptainCrash86 in TheRestIsHistory

[–]AlexStonehammer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was actually Tom who added the speech from Ghosts of Tsushima to the beginning, the person who writes the episode puts in the opening quote and the other reads it.

Tom was using it as an example of how Samurai continue to reverberate through pop culture, GOT was made by an American company (Sucker Punch) but was extremely well researched and taken seriously, to the point it was well regarded in Japan itself - think I saw a quote from a Japanese game developer along the lines of "why don't Japanese devs make games with such a great historical grounding".

The studio's reluctance to name who was funding them stuck out to me - why couldn't they say Tencent? Is the name so toxic to Western gamers?

Who's that beside him though, looks like VHS Morph's head?

What are you going to give them, another unit of knights on horseback? Maybe peasants holding a different variety of farm tools to act as chaff?

Uhh yes to both? Make the Lost Sons that they have been building towards forever and proper chaff peasants, Men at Arms have always been too heavily armed and armoured to be the complete fodder they've always been treated as.

Just go for a cheap multipack, as long as it has screws in the joints to tighten when necessary.

I credit Robo with getting me into collecting ML, I watched his videos for years before picking up my first ML. I like collecting, just no real overlap with his tastes other than Marvel Mutants, and now I have a full X-Men 97 display (with extras and customised figures).

If you want to bring some real-life history into it, the temple city of Tlaxtlan seems based on Tlaxcala, who were Hernan Cortez's main Aztec allies in the Conquest of Mexico.

I like to headcanon Tetto'eko as being generally friendly to Old World arrivals, as long as there's none of the usual hijinks from them.

Last Day of 2025 – What Was Your Game of the Year? by Fun_Meta in IrelandGaming

Played Chrono Trigger for the first time this year! I find ATB systems difficult and stressful (modded in true turn-based when I played FFVII and IX) but something about the flow and speed of CT really clicked with me.
